Bucket Hooks Where To Weld Hooks?

SHHH, listen....

Can you hear it, Mike? /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

It's a little voice. /w3tcompact/icons/hmm.gif

It's saying 'buy a welder' /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Don't miss out on this opportunity to justify this purchase. /w3tcompact/icons/clever.gif

Jerry, I hear the little voice...the problem is there's another voice, sweet and tender voice it is,too, gently saying, "If you buy anything else that's even remotely connected to that tractor, I will kill you!" /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

/w3tcompact/icons/hmm.gif I've heard that voice as well...

I thought it was just indigestion. /w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif

Thanks for the 'heads-up'

I can't recall which TBN member to credit for this idea but I liked it and will pass it on.

They attached a piece of angle iron to the top of their bucket running the length of the bucket. Into the raised piece they had cut grooves every so often that were of a width that allowed a link of chain to be inserted much like a clevis hook. If I remember correctly, all of this was done without a welder. The angle iron was simply bolted to the to of the bucket. It combined reinforcement and chain attachment points.

Everyone is saying: "don't lift from the side of the bucket." Well check out <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.tractorbynet.com/cgi-bin/compact/showthreaded.pl?Cat=&Board=genoperating&Number=133997>this post and attachment</A> of my method of lifting.

Ok I looked for the picture I posted of my bucket hook and couldn't find it. So here it is ---see attachment above---.

First I added angle iron to box in the bucket lip. My bucket lip was open in the rear just like yours is. Then added another piece of angle to further spread the pull of the hook. The pic says it all.
