Your post count has nothing to do with the # of replies you get...But you did ask two very specific questions that most propably cannot help with:fattyfat1 said:wow, only one person on TBN with a 3pt log splitter huh? i find that hard to believe! oh well, it sucks to be the noob. maybe if i had 1000 posts i'd get some replies

I personally know of none that will do this...But the Speedco splitter that TSC will work on your tractor but it would be painfully slow.preferably one that can split in both directions.

Youur 2305 does not have 5.2 GPM to operate the splitter, it only has 2.9 GPM for the implements, the other 2.3 GPM from the pump goes directly to the steering system via a priority flow divider. Read this:
Hydraulics![]()
Type Open Center![]()
![]()
Pump Rated Output, gpm (L/min.) 5.2 (19.7)![]()
![]()
Steering 2.3 (8.9)![]()
![]()
Implement 2.9 (10.8)![]()

Pump Type Gear![]()

Maximum Operating Pressure (PSI) 1987
So, with only 2.9 GPM and 1987 PSI I do not think a 3PH unit is right for your machine, unless as suggested above you use a PTO powered pump, but that will add about $400 to the cost of this setup...
There are TONS of posts here about logsplitters, did you do a search?
fattyfat1 said:thanks, I appreciate the help! this unit, with the power beyond kit, can run a backhoe attachment and not a splitter? I don't see how this could be. this is why I posted in the first place, because i did a search and came up empty handed with this kind of info on small tractors. much appreciated info, thanks, Trev
The answer is none if your delivery is in the 3gpm range at 2kpsi as others have quoted specs. You would need at least a 4" cylinder to be marginal at this pressure. At less than wfo the cycle times would be close to a minute. The beauty of standalone or pto systems is you can use a dedicated two stage pump that delivers 10gpm at low pressure and shifts to a 2gpm delivery when it encounters something hard. This lets you keep the cycle times within reason. For trouble free splitting at 2kpsi you will need a cylinder bigger than 4". 10gpm delivery at the pre shift pressure would be an absolute minimum with a larger cylinder unless you like to watch slomo and never get tired of it.fattyfat1 said:looking for a 3pt. logsplitter for my 5gpm hyd. system in a JD 2305. preferably one that can split in both directions. any ideas? thanks, Trev
