I'm new to the forum and was hoping you guy's might share your knowledge. I have a 1 acre lot that was used for a R/C track that I'm trying to get back into a nice looking lot. I used a 6-disc cultivater to cut up the track and yard. My question now is what do I use to get the clots of grass and soil level and spread out so I can seed? I have a roto tiller but its small, not wide enough to cover my tracks. I just bought a kubota 3010 4x4 HST w/loader and looking for some attachments that would let me do some light landscaping but I dont have any experience. Thanks for the help and advice.

If it was me I'd see if I could rent a tiller that was wide enough to cover your wheel tracks and go that route. But then again, I'm not experienced at this tractor stuff and I often go the wrong direction.

I have a 5' John Deere tiller that isn't quite as wide as the track on my Kubota 3130. However, it isn't a problem because the tiller is offset so the tines project clear of the tire line on one side (I think the left side), meaning I don't have to run in tilled ground at any time. I'd check your tiller to see if you can set it up the same.

Rent a tiller for a couple of days and go over it two or three times. You will get rid of them clumps of grass.

I've tried leveling with a tiller and it got me off to a good start (it does take a few passes to break up the grass clumps), but I've still got lots of little hills and valleys (more valleys) in the tilled region. I've been contemplating a box blade to use after tilling to help level things a bit more, I wonder if folks think a few more passes with the tiller (perhaps at different angles) would be a better option?

I also know that I need a lot of topsoil to help fill in some areas at a macro level, every time it rains I check where water pools and add that spot to the hit list.

If you can find a spike tooth harrow to drag around that will help alot to smooth things out.

Rent the tiller to bust up the clods (make sure the soil is nice and dry when you do this). Then, after the tilling, use a landscape rake to redistribute the soil and smooth it at the same time. Depending on how agressively you set the rake, and how you work the 3pt, you can use the rake to drag soil into the low spots and smooth things out nicely.

I usually use my disc and cut it a few times and then it sit for a week or so and let the clots dry out then I disc it again. The clots seem to break apart alot easier after yet let the grass die and the dirt dries up some.

I take every other tine out of my landscape rake, and windrow the rocks and vegetation.

Thanks for the advice guy's. I 'll put it to use and let you know how I do.

A flexible chain 'drag' harrow can work well for this option too.. and is comparitively cheap. when looking at the other implements mentioned.

Well I finnished my yard. I made 2- passes with the roto-tiller and let the soil dry a little. I purchased a leinbach yard tool (pulverizer) that really did a good job for me being a beginner at all this. The yard is level and looks good through my eyes. Thanks for the help and advice.
