Which \"B\" to get?

I just went to the local Kubota dealer. Have been struggling with the decision on which model to get. The BX is sweet but I want something a bit bigger. The 7500 looks to be the right size but then there is the 2410 and 2910. I want to do some light landscaping and wall building. Backhoe work and "harleyraking" would be an added use, along with FEL work. I do want to be able to load a small PU or F450 Dump. I also want to be able to get into tight areas but be able to get the job done. Guide me tractor experts!!

Re: Which \"B\" to get?

You sure want a lot, the tight spot thing like the movie--Oh Brother Where Art Thou---we in a tight spot--we in a tight spot. Tight spots say little tractors and the BX is the king of the hill when it comes to tight spots---for example the turn radius --the uncut portion of the circle using a 60 In MMM on the BX is about 36 inches (if memory serves), the 2410 is 72 inches taken the same way with 60 MMM. Yes, despite the statements to the contrary the BX is in fact much more manuverable than a 7500 or 2410. I got the 2410 and sent my BX to my parents and sister--I got the 2410 because it was the most tractor I could get in a smaller frame, the 2910 is a great unit but will not go where I need to go as it is a another 5 inches on the wheel base. BX is 55, 2410 is 59 and the 2910 is 66 inches. That is a big jump. Of course your needs are different from mine--I place a high premium on mowing performance and working in "tight spots". I also wanted the benefit of position control. The lift on the little BX is right in there with the 2410. Buying tractors is not very easy is it? Sometimes I wish I sent the 2410 to my parents and kept the BX. The BX power steeering is easier too--truely one finger steering. Well, maybe some day I can trade back. Good luck, shopping is half the fun. Oh, don't let people convince you renting is cheaper--no matter which tractor you get you will accomplish things you never dreamed possible, I use my tractor every weekend, renting a tractor every weekend to do the things I do every weekend would cost a fortune. rent a tractor everytime I mow?? plant, dig, grade my drive and road? no way. It is not a luxury--it is a need. J

Re: Which \"B\" to get?

I love my BX2200. Wouldn't give it up for the world. Ok, I'd give it up for more acreage and an L3010! /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif But you mentioned that your wanted to do some HARLEYRAKING. The BX won't handle that implement. The Harley Rake (as I've seen it...my Pa had one on his L2900) requires remote hydraulic ports to handle the angling, etc. In addition, the Harley is HEAVY. In my opinion, you need at least a B2410, and perhaps bigger to run that particular implement. Other than that, the BX22 has what some people are calling an excellent backhoe, so if that implement is important, than that is where you start looking.

Re: Which \"B\" to get?

We all have our preferences so here's mine. Since having a older L185DT-600BH then moving to the B21TLB the capabilty of the small TLB units are great. If you are usually dealing with 1-2' rocks (2-300Lbs) as well normal mowing/snow use then the BX 22 would work well. However pending the side loading height of the F3550 with/without side boards, you may strech the liftover and dump height on the BX22.

I am happy with the B21TLB with the rugged frame, easy removal of BH and overall performance. What you decide will ultimately depend on budget and what works for you.

Check them all out and have fun doing it..

Re: Which

Tileman is probably better off with the 7500 but just for arguments sake here is a pic (again--yes--sorry) comapring the lift height of the 2410 to the BX2200. It speaks for itself. The BX seems--to me--to have very slightly less lift and slightly more reach--in the pic the 2410 is agaisnt the fence, the BX is back off it about half a foot. Notice the BX bucket is farther beyond the top bar. Neither tractor if I remember correctly is quite at max lift. In this contest I fear the BX wins again or you can call it a draw if you insist but now put the MMM on each, the BX will turn inside the 2410 and in that contest the BX kicks 2410 behind. Another oddity--when mowing, the 2410 outside wheel gets outside the deck, on the BX the outside edge of the deck appears to be the furtherest outside point which allows closer trimming---maybe it is an illusion. Re: Which

TreCrows,

Here's some detail, re lift height for various models you refer to:
LOADERS
Tractors ------- B7500, B2410, B2710 Loaders Weights and Measures
Comparisons.................................. B7500 B2410 B 2710
Loader LA302 LA352 LA402
Max lift height approx. 69.5" 69.7" 82.3”
Std. bucket width approx. 48" 48" 54"
Bucket cap - stuck cu. ft.... approx. 5.2 5.2 7.2
Bucket cap heaped cu. ft. approx. 6.2 6.2 8.0
Lift capacity to full height lbs. approx. 660 lbs. 770 lbs. 882 lbs.
Breakout force 1120 lbs. 1340 lbs. 1610 lbs.

B21 Model TL 421 LOADER

Self-Leveling
Lift capacity to max. Height. 926 lb.
Breakout force 1543 lbs.
Net weight of loader 700 lb. approx. + Bucket.
Max lift height at pivot pin. 88.8"
Clearance with bucket dumped. 66.5"
Reach at max. Lift height. 20.5"
Reach with bucket on the ground. 58.3"
Digging Depth. 6.3"
Roll back and dump angle (Max). 44/44 degrees
Overall height in carry position. 48.8"
Boom raising time/lowering time ... 3.0 sec/ 1.8 seconds
Bucket rollback time/dumping time. 2.6 / 1.7 seconds

For the LA211 FEL on the BX Series:
Lift capacity to height 460 Lbs
Breakout Force 950 Lbs
Max Lift Height 71.3"
TIme to Max lift Height 2.9 sec.
Loader Weight 400 Lbs

You're right!! BX lifts higher with less load than the 7500 and the 2410, but only by a slight margin - 69.5 - 71.3". However the B21 is 88"+ whihc when loading a F350 with 4WD and side boards its probably close to being max height for the BX and 7500. I have loaded a few trucks as well containers, and like to have a little margin for ground levels etc.

BTW do you just have photos to pull from? To show such a comparison takes some time, and is that appears to be a 4' fence?

I agree the 7500 (or the B21) is a good choice for the task at hand, and after looking at the BX series the other day - its a rugged unit tho lacks ground clearance - probably the biggest factor when working in stumps and rocks that we have in NH.

Re: Which

Yep, your numbers match mine except my LA352 has a 50 inch bucket. Yes, and a even bigger tractor can lift even more--there is the buy bigger than you need and the buy what you really need philosophy. Each to their own in this regard. I favor as small as I can get away with not as large as I can make do with--a subtle but significant difference.
I am not sure I follow you in your question regarding pics--time? Got a scanner sitting right here if that is what you are asking and I almost always have a camera nearby--a UFO might land!!!!!!
Oh, yes, that is a 4 foot fence. J

Re: Which

Trecrows,

Regarding the camera, I have a digital one - nice to have as I take photos each year around the place and archive. It's fun looking back.

What I was referring to re: time, is taking the units out to the fence, getting the photos, then responding to the fourm, of course if you have these already, it's a snap to attach.

BTW didn't I see another post you made about getting a Cub for mowing?

Re: Which \"B\" to get?

I am going through the same decision pains. All the other guys here are the experts, so I just give you my 2 cents. From what you say I think that the B2410 is the way to go. You can always rent a real backhoe for any major digging work, (why beat up your new baby). The B2910 is a major jump in size so the tight areas may be a problem and the B2200 has less ground clearance. The B2410 will let you go more places and be more flexible, it has the power for light landscaping and can load more then the B2200.
