- 1960 Massey Ferguson 35 (Perkins), 1995 TAFE 35DI, 1980 Bolens G174, 2005 Kubota B7510, 2020 Kioti Mechron 2200ps UTV Troy-Bilt Horse 2 1988 Case IH 255 4WD with loader and cab
I have the price sheet before me and I need some input before I pull the trigger on a purchase. Candidates are a lightweight 4', a lightweight 5', a hd 5' and a hd 6' which I would use with my 35 hp 2WD loader tractor.
The task is to shape sand fill and distribute topsoil on a 250' X 150' lakeshore lot which has some slopes I wouldn't mow across. The high-tech tile-bed pads and septic tank are awkwardly located, and I'll have to excavate about a foot of silt from runoff next to a wall of windows, under a deck (8' to posts; about 8' high). If I could manage it, I'd like to excavate an area below the deck and continue a little ditch through some stony topsoil to facilitate drainage, then import washed stone to build up a pad beneath the deck which will help get rid of the water.
Whatever we can't do with the little tractors will be a pick and shovel job.
Personally, I'm leaning toward the smallest box blade for ease of use around the deck. The dealer suggested a 5' for the B7510, though he didn't make a big deal about the HD model. I like the construction of the heavier one much better than the light one.
I have three suitcase weights I alternate between my Bolens G174 and the Kubota.
So I'd appreciate your opinions on which box blade I should buy. Money's not that big a deal: the home owner will buy it in return for use of the tractor.
If you have a B-series Kubota and a box blade, what size is it?
Thanks,
