2006 John Deere 2305
Hello, we currently have a 2006 2305 TLB. Primary use is loader for maintaining gravel driveways and parking lot as we'll as snow removal. I've used the backhoe for numerous projects, but no longer have a need for a backhoe. It's used as an supplemental mower to a Zero Turn with a 72" deck for 5 acre property when needed. It's used with a 3 point receiver hitch to move travel trailers around our RV service facility. I'm now searching for the easiest/least costly way to move 5th wheel campers. The 2305 isn't large enough to handle the hitch weight of the campers I need to move. Our parking lot is smooth gravel. It is level. There is only 1 90 degree turn involved to get in our building with a camper. The large 5th wheel campers are approximately 45' long with a hitch pin weight as high as 2,000lb. I am able to raise and lower the campers by their self contained landing gear so I do not need the 3 point hitch to lift 2,000lb, but that would be a bonus if it could. I do need the tractor to be able to handle 2,000 lbs at the rear of the 3 point hitch safely. I prefer not to go much larger as the 2305 is a good size unit for my other needs. I will be looking for something similar, and used as to avoid investing a lot more into something I use infrequently. The 2305 was my first sub compact. With the next, I must have a folding ROPS (barn loft is 7' high) and steering brakes. I would also prefer a drive on/off mowing deck and similar maneuverability to the 2305. To me, it appears that something in the 3000 series may work, but I don't see published information about hitch weights, only hydraulic lifting capacity. By the way: the 2305 lifting capacity for the 3 point hitch end is published at 681 lbs. I find it will not lift that much weight. Please advise

I have a Kioti 45 and much to my disappointment it will not pick up my 45 foot tipple axle Toy Hauler. I think pin weight is 3000 lb or more. To get clearance to turn your hitch needs to be 1 to 2 feet behind 3 point and this diminishes lifting power. I would think 65 HP or more to safely move any camper you wanted to.

Is there some kind of dolly you could use? It would support the weight, but would need to be fixed for backing. You would not want it to pivot at both the 5th wheel and the draw bar.

something along these lines might work for you. have a fabrication shop make it up for you.

I move my 30 foot gooseneck with my front loader...but i have to use a good counterweight.

I might move the attachment point for the gooseneck forward 6" or so from that one to give the tractor a little more tongue weight, but that should work.

Yeah, I've looked into Dolly's. The problem is with backing. Anything that turns will create 2 pivots which cannot be backed. Anything that doesn't turn will not pivot and binds due to having an extra axle.

I have found a portable self powered device that will work. The cost is more than I want to invest for something that has one purpose ($4500)I will stop working on 5th wheels before I spend that much

I thought a John Deere 3120 would do it. Is that wrong?

I'd personally go the dolly route. True it isn't as easy to back a trailer with a steerable axle, but you'll get used to it. My dad can back two loaded kicker wagons of hay into a barn, without even having to pull up to straighten out.

Takes practice to get good at, but you learn a new skill. Think of the truck drivers that have to do it all the time when they are pulling double or triple trailers.

I beg to differ. I frequently back up haywagons which have 2 pivots. It takes some getting used to, but it can be done (especially with a long tongue on the dolly).
Here is a video of it being done:
If you only want one pivot, I would make something like Hitch Helper Motorcycle Carring Trailer Hitches by ACC Towing (possibly with brakes) to mount on the 3 point and bear most of the weight of the trailer.
That would keep a single pivot, push the hitch point back (so that the trailer turns faster) and help with the tongue weight.
