Which Ford diesels were problem childs

Personally, I wouldn't want something that you have to dump $$$ thousands into to "bulletproof" for peace of mind. Or that a previous owner had claimed to have bulletproofed. Everyone seems to have a different idea of just what that entails. That said, all I know of the 6.0 & 6.4 is what I've read online. I did in fact own a low mileage 1997 7.3 for 3 years. It was a little gutless and some minor mods woke it up a little bit, but it was no ball of fire. It was, however dependable.

An educated 6.0 owner willing to deal the the problems before catastrophic failures occur can find that the 6.0 "can be" just as reliable as the 7.3, and faster... But an uninformed owner, who ignores the issues and warning signs will end up with costly repair bills.

We have 2 of the 6.4's at work, both egr/dpf deleted, they run good. 3 of the 6.7's, one with over 110k miles with no issues.

Good luck with your search... Check out powerstroke.org for further info... Im a member there also, same screen name.

I've read too many reports of 'educated" 6.0 owners dropping upwards of $10K in them prior to failure to make them "bulletproof".
I'm gonna go ahead and pass on that strategy, and that engine.
