Which Kubota for Me?

When you eliminate the need to move round bales, I think the B series would be just right. The B7800 and the B2910 both offer plenty of horsepower to work good size tillers and mowers yet the tractor is of a size it can maneuver in a rink or clean stalls. Good luck with our hunt and let us know the out come.

First off - Welcome to TBN!

I've got a similar situation here in Texas. I have 18+ acres that is mostly flat (nice drop off to a valley in the back though). My wife and I are in the process of building a stable operation for when we retire. Based on my research I went with the L3130 HST with a FEL and a Bush Hog. So far the weight hasn't been an issue, but everything is pasture right now. I do plan on purchasing a smaller unit to do yard maintenance, but so far the L3130 has been a great workhorse. I've cleared several acres of nasty thorn bushes and the tractor has barely let out a peep of protest.

Just wanted to put my 2 cents in on what a b series tractor can pick up... here in Nw Pennsylvania a 4' x 5' round bale runs between 800 and 1000 lbs depending on how much moisture is in the hay. I have successfully strapped one of these beasts to the bucket of an LA272 loader on a B7500 and toted it around the yard with great success. I doubt if it was beneficial to the tractor in any way, but it didn't seem to hurt anything. If I could figure out this computer stuff I could post a photo of it... anyways, that little B7500 was one heck of a work horse. I now own a B2710, and let me just say that the difference in power is astounding. The 2710 seems like twice the tractor the 7500 was... (not trying to belittle the 7500 in the least, mind you).

With that said... and now knowing you use much smaller bales, I would definitely say that anything B7500 and bigger in the B series would suit you fine... It seems like most of these tractors are all capable of completing similar tasks, it just takes a little longer sometimes with the smaller models. IMO, you should buy the biggest B series that your wallet will allow.

( I don't think any of the b-series could pick up a round bale with the loader, but maybe so. My 2910 is limited to under 1000 lbs, and unless you got a detachable fork/bucket combo, even less. You might do well with a 3 pt bale spear, though.

You are on the right track with the b-series, particularly if the 10-20 acres might be in a remote location requiring you to trailer your tractor back and forth. The L-series is considerably heavier, which otherwise is probably a good thing.

I agree. My neighbor's B2910 will not do round bales. My L3410 will do them, but will not go real fast.

Take a look at the L series. I am going to be selling mine next month, but I'm in VA and you are in CA.
