Before Spring comes I intend on buying a Kubota. I own 5 acres and intend on mowing it all with this tractor. I need 4WD due to a mildly sloped creek bank that I intend on mowing. I am using a 12 HP craftsman now and have gotten stuck a few times. Also, I have a steep hill that is approximately a 70% incline that I hope to mow. I also intend on buying a tiller for a garden and possibly a box scraper to do some lanscaping in some rough areas.

If money was not a factor, I would choose a B7500. Would a BX1800 or BX22 be out of the question to accomplish what I want to do? How about a B7400?

wish list-Power Steering, Hysro-static Drive, adjustable PTO(up&down)

Uh...a 70% incline is not a steep hill, that is called a "bluff". I wouldn't try to mow that with anything that I could ride on.

You probably meant BX2200, now called the bx2230 I bet. The bx22 is the TLB version of the BX2200...

I would think the BX2230 would do what you want. The 1830 would too...but there is not much difference in price, so why not go for the extra hp?

Did you really mean a 70% slope? I doubt it...that is REALLY steep and I doubt you would want to mow one going up or across. And down would be exciting, to say the least.

My guess is that you could cut those five acres in a couple hours with a BX2230 and 60" mower deck. I cut about an acre with my BX2200 so fast that I have to sneak over on the neighbors side and cut some of his before I can stop.

This summer I should add about another acre of grass to cut, I hope, if I get the clearing done that I hope to do.

The BX will handle smaller implements like a box blade and so on. A post hole digger may require you either buying one specific for a smaller tractor, or modification of the 3ph to get a little more lift. I plan on modifying my 3ph to get the extra lift as I have a standard phd for my B2910.

A 6' landscape rake works fine behind the BX, but due to the limited 3ph lift, it can't be rotated without backing it over a dip or bank so it hangs in the air a little more.

You will love the BX if you get one. No comparison to a standard gas powered garden or lawn tractor.

Don't forget to get a loader for whatever you buy. You won't regret it. And a tooth bar, naturally... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Thanks for the reply, Henro.

I found a used BX2200 with Power Steering, Hydrostatic drive, and turf tires with 300hrs. & 60" deck for $7495. What do you think of that price?

First off, Welcome! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I was just curious about the title of your post, Which Kubota To buy?.

Please understand that since I don't have my tractor yet, I have no allegiances to any color. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

But your statement is so matter-of-fact. With so many good choices out there, are you not considering shopping around to find the best deal and the best dealer? I'm certainly not knocking on Kubota, because undoubtedly they will be in my final consideration. But are you really that sure about it? Maybe you did do a lot of research and just didn't mention it?

Just curious. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I am only partial to orange because I am surrounded by Kubota dealers and I am familiar with the models. I just assume (stereotypically) that I would buy a credible brand and those were either Kubota, JD, or NH. I just assumed that JD would be more pricey and ruled them out. The nearest NH dealer is an hour drive and I also assumed they would be higher than Kubota.

I am seriously considering a Kioti, specifically the CK20. I intended on purchasing a used tractor to save a little cash. With the CK20 being a new model there does not seem to be any used ones out there. Of course the price of a new Kioti might be close to a used Kubota and I will keep that in mind.

I believe the CK takes a pull behind mover opposed to a midmount. I'm not sure I want this regardless of the performance.

Like I said, I was just wondering. There are some fine machines out there these days that don't seem to always get their due recognition, such as AGCO, Massey Ferguson, Century, Branson, etc. I know I was surprised at the quality and value of some of the other brands out there.

Good luck on your search! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

The CK20 has a midmount PTO. Kioti offers a midmount mower or a 3 point mower, whichever you prefer.

For your ground-engaging 3PH equipment work, you may want to be sure you have a tractor with position control. I don't, and at times it's frustrating. Probably not something I can't adapt to, but if I'd thought just a bit more about how I was going to use the tractor, I might have opted for a different tractor (I have a MF GC 2300. I have few complaints with it thus far -- ~90 hours --, but that's one of 'em. The fault's all mine!). Good luck!

Go with the BX22-23 I haven't found anyone yet that has regretted it.
