I have a lot of new construction to clean up and landscape. I built a new house on my farm and buried the old one on site. will be building a new barn too so I have lots of use for a good stout rake. Of course I want to get one the is tough as **** and does not cost a lot. I have been using a guys York landscape rake and it has done a great job but I can't keep it forever and decided to look for one of my own. The York that I am using has a grader blade and scarifier setup that fold down. I only want the rake part and I need one that can be used hard. Any recomendations on which brand? I searched and found a couple of threads about what not to get...FarmForce. I will be raking up lots of rocks some fairly good sized chunks of bedrock, roots/wood.

Thanks

I agree with ChuckinNH's choice of the "Big 3". I have had no problems with my Woods Landscape Rake except one of the guage wheels went flat. I have not gotten around to fixing it yet as I do ot use the guage wheels very often. Jay

My advice - pay the extra and go with one of the larger manufacturers like Woods. I really like their stuff. I've got a Woods rotary cutter and box blade. They are built solid. Box blade is like a tank.

I cheapened out on the landscape rake and bought a Kodiak. Its not bad but you get what you paid for. I don't use my stuff that much. Guage wheel brackets that hook the guage wheels to the rake have the welds coming apart. I broke one tine the other day just doing normal stuff - manure cleanup etc.

The good thing about the Kodiak is that it has given me an opportunity to pat myself on the back for buying a welder :D. I'm having fun with welding so I haven't minded the odd fix too much.

another vote for don't get farm force - I have it, light work trashes it. Lots of things not braced/too light weight.

Landscape rakes are incredibly useful though. Much more than I would have guessed or I would have paid real money the first time. I'm now looking for a real one on craigs list...

Get the gauge wheels, very useful

I ordered a 7' Leinbach with the wheels.
$548 + $265(wheels) + 20 shipping. I looked closely at these units and they have the same style support system as the york rake that I am using now. I guess time will tell if it holds up to the abuse I have in store for it.
