The economy is going to be taking a bath for a while. I'm going to wait and watch to see where prices go. Hate to say it this way, but maybe some fellas will have to sell some equipment and there may be used or new bargains in the balance of '08.

OP mentioned he wanted to use rear pto snowblower. I would think FWD would be very nice with that. Also, do gear tractors work well with snow blower?
You probably want to move slow in reverse if rear mounted blower?

Well, maybe, but you think the odds of the right tractor at the right price within a reasonable distance is really that good?

I dont think so. ! thing is for certain. Tractors dont lose value. The tractors that might hit the market are the ones repoed or the owners where able to sell before they got repoed. In both cases I dont see much of a deal coming. However since we are trying to duck under the $20K mark, you might be able to find a 5103 or 5203 w/ LDR 4WD at $19K-$20K. I doubt it. I've been trying. Could'nt find 'em. If I did they where still $21K. Now is the time to buy. Why?Cause of the lower interrest.

Hi Jimmy - it's me, your neighbour.

I spent quite a bit of time looking into JD as well. I really like the 3xxx series. I think that a 3320 would be a perfect fit for you. The lift capacities at the 3PT and FEL with the CX are higher than my L3400. Either the L3400 or the JD 3320 would do you well.

The JD 3320 is ergonomically more comfortable and has more bells and whistles - like the eHydro vs. a plain mechanical hydrostat in the L3400. I do like the greater capacities of the 3320/3520 series.

That said, you should probably compare the JD 3320 to the Kubota Grand L 3240.

All of the above mentioned tractors will do what you need them to do - no question about it. I would definately not skimp on MFWD. Additionally I would get the HST. A heck of a lot nicer doing loader work. I have not operated a JD power reverser but I hear they are good too. Really can't see myself getting a tractor without HST.

As to a 5103 - lots of bang for the buck. Like me, I don't think you really have a farming operation per se. I would find the 5103 to be too big in many places getting chores done. If your priorites were pulling a baler at some point - then sure. If not I think that you will have good value out of a JD 3320.

Oh yeah... like the others said. Give Javan at Mutton Power a call. He gave me a good quote on a 3520 a while back and freight was only $900 to my door. JD warranty is also North America wide. Whoever is the local dealer better negotiate.

Whew! My head is spinning with all of the info. I think I better just go and buy a tractory and get it over with.

I have looked at Mutton's site too. So many choices, I think I need to get more than 1 tractor!

LOL
