Rotary Cutter Which new cutter???

/ Which new cutter??? #43
Here are a few pictures from my BH27 84" 3" capacity
Looks like it has more clearance than the unmodified. But nothing like what the mods show little scared about that. Its much easier to take more off than to but it back especially with wood, steel is a little easier. I could see going to far seriously impeding cut quality as this will disrupt the vortex under the deck and probably let out much larger unprocessed material. I would probably bet that the opening clearance is a balancing act between too little discharge (clumping as a result) and to open resulting in little mulching

I'd venture to guess that the woods is probably not that much different behind the rubber than the others. Dumb question but Did the blades get put on upside down or did they forget to form the cutting edge? What your describing does not sound typical. I would not want to be anywhere near where that is operating. I ordered chains for mine because I've been hit by indirect (bounced) shrapnel thrown from a cutter
