Re: Which oil is king? -ALL BRAND NAMES!
I test drove the trucks, the auto has low power and leaks etc. There are many problems that have not been fixed yet.
This is an average Diesel Stop post:
"Yeah, that's about right. Only it's a LOT more pronounced with the manual trans trucks. I can Idle mine out in 1st gear, stand on the accelerator, and usually make it to a count of ten before the turbo spools up and the truck kinda takes off. It is moving during that count of ten or so, just VEEEERRRY SLUUGGGGIIISH. What a PITA! My old Cummins would have melted the rear tires instantaneously if you did that. Hey, maybe it's Ford's new "traction control system".
I'm not comparing Dodge Cummins to Ford. The Cummins has been on the market in basic form for many years and is proven in bigger trucks. Great engine. I think Ford should not use the public for testing. Way too many issues, the dealer couldn't give me one good runner to test drive.
A local dirt contractor with a fleet of problem Fords is not happy with this screw up. Ford can't fix them fast enough here, some fixes not known yet, R15 is still in the works I think. They are switching to GM right now, too much down time. Eveyone I know wants their Ford 6.0 Diesels fixed. Many still want the truck and are dealing with it, its not a small matter.
Ford has screwed me on 3 trucks. I think they are no worse than Dodge or GM and I will buy a Ford again, I really like how the new trans shifts. I've had bad trucks from the big two. Ford was the worst with front end problems on two trucks.... lots of welding and shop time. Its not easy to get them to do a buy back, lemon law takes time.
I was going to try Ford again untill the test drives. The truck does run great when you get on it. Throttle response was really bad on one auto. The boost hit hard, but nothing down low, something was wrong. I know they all don't act like that, but many do. The ones I test drove did. All crew cab F-350s.
This is first hand and I don't like buying trucks that need new engine seals when brand new.... Ford should fix them before the sale. There is no telling how many Ford 6.0 owners think that their trucks are running like a "diesel", because they don't have anything to compare too.
I have a 91 Dodge that was ok, no real problems. 98 was a huge improvement, almost no problems at all. Both gas powerd. Now an 03 CTD, only time will tell.
Also had three company fords, a few GM's. Have a 03 F-150 4.6 V8 now with 4K, runs perfect. No problems. Just returned a Grand Cherokee. Still have a big black Caddy. I'm not stuck on one brand.
Most people think Dodges are junk, I've had good trucks from them. Only one A/C problem. But, thats just me. My brother had a ford buy back. My uncle has had a few GM problems.
I try to get the truck with the least problems at the time I purhase. Sorry if I stepped on your Ford. Just stating what has happened to me concerning the new Ford 6.0. I'm glad yours runs well.
On edit: the latest reflash is here I think. Here is a link to a positive 6.0 owner:
