( Great post, nice truck. Sounds like a masterpiece. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif )

I don't know if it's a masterpiece, it was expensive to do and took a lot of time and fabrication. I don't think I'd do another, I am getting too old. I do want another motorcycle, however. My wife and I have a friend whose father is a design engineer. He got bored and decided to start building "choppers". I saw his first and I want one. It looks like a Harley motor until you look closely and then you see it's not. He has his own castings made and machines the motors himself. He actually makes every part with the exception of the electrical system himself. I don't want to as how much. Probably 50K

Well first of all let's stick to facts. The facts are Ford has a limited # of problems. #1 is an oil leak."

Well more than an oil leak the fact that they fold up like a tin /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif can when hit regardless of what engine in them is much more diffucult to address than some little oil leak. J

Me thinks my 350 Ford could probably go right over your "Toyrota" . Probably just feel like a bump in the road!!!

Re: Which oil is king? -ALL BRAND NAMES!

All I will say is if you own a F350 get rid of it. I had one (1997 Powerstroke) and it was nice, but American cars/trucks are like 5 to 8 years behind the Japanese. The Fords would break down and my Lexus would go by waving.

Your joking right??

First off plenty of people I know have PSDs and NO oil leaks, including myself. Not a DROP of fluid anywhere on my driveway.

Been there done that, you're right 5030

Hey Sagebrush,

Ask the fella who hit my truck head on in his Toyota how the trucks fared??? He was picking up his radiator, fan, fanbelt, bumper, etc and loading it onto a tow truck. I was waving goodbye as I road in my slighly dented F350. Truck never stalled and the airbags didn't deploy because there was no sudden decellaration as my truck kept going foward.

The State Trooper who arrived inspected the guardrail and didn't beive my truck had pushed back and even ripped out a 15" section that include sveral stantions in the concrete while suffering almost ZERO damage to the front end. He even pointed it out to the next Trooper who arrived.

The reason my truck was relatively undamaged was because almost all the impact was on the "blocker" bar Ford had to install to stop the truck from going over and killing the occupants of Toyotas and other similar wannabe trucks. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif Blocker bar and tow hooks probbaly stopped me from going OVER the guardrail.

You take your 4000 lb Toyota and I'll take my chances in an 8000 lb Ford. Those 'brick wall" tests are all good and well but most times we hit other vehicles. Roll a 16lb bowling ball head on into an 8lb bowling ball and watch what happens. The 8 lb.bowling ball, we'll call it "Toyota" ends up going back from where it came while the 16lb ball, we'll call it "Ford" continued on it's course just a little slower. :grin

That going backwards in an instant has gotta be a little hard on the occupants, airbags or not /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Re: Which oil is king? -ALL BRAND NAMES!

We have several Ford diesels that have 300-500k on them and they are still going on the ranch. I personally have a 1986 Ford diesel 4x4 with 410,000. It's had the front end redone twice, 3 new waterpumps, a couple injectors, all the glow plugs replaced, the injector pump has been rebuilt twice, three clutches, and few u-joints here and there. That truck is 17 years old now and still doing just fine. It does pop out of first gear with a real heavy load but that's about it.

Please don't mash my little Toy truck, purty please /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif.

On a serious note, I have been reading about the new Ford truck. Looks good. I saw the Ford Tonka Truck last year and WOW /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif, what a machine. I know it was a concept but I was very impressed. I want one /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif.

I don't know if you ever watch CMT TresCrow but there is a video with Toby Keith called "Who's Your Daddy" He drives the Ford Tonka truck in that video. Pretty neat truck. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Re: Which oil is king? -ALL BRAND NAMES!

Your Lexus would fit in the back of my Ford. You'd get really really good fuel mileage that way. Heck, you could put your rice rocket in there too.

The Japanese are really good auto builders. Actually they build everything well. The japanese are good copycats. They see a market and exploit it. Just like compact tractors, the japanese are very good at what they do. I don't want to get into political wrangling but the only heavy industry we have left in this country is the automotive industry. It is what makes the economy go. People like you are contributing to our economic demise for which we will all suffer. Do you really want to eat rice for dinner every night?

Re: Which oil is king? -ALL BRAND NAMES!

A number of 6.0 Fords leak oil at the bell housing, not all. I wanted to buy one, researched it, test drove them, talked to 03 6.0 owners, don't want one right now. Ford has not released the #15 flash yet, so we don't know if it will do the trick yet. The oil leaks are an ongoing problem. Some may not notice, some have them, some get them, others don't leak. But, the computer problems are a mess.

I'm not Ford Bashing, we drive Fords! Just stating a warning about the problems. If I didn't test drive ones with troubles, I wouldn't have thought twice. But, the dealers don't have a computer fix yet. The injector fix has been out for awhile. I'm tired of this subject, I've said enough. You can find plenty of info from hardcore Ford owners on the Diesel Stop. Just go test drive a few, the stumble, low power etc... is not all that uncommon. Not in GA. If I didn't test drive ones with troubles, I wouldn't have thought twice. But, the dealers don't have a computer fix yet. The injector fix has been out for awhile.
