Typcially I only put on enough hours to change the oil 1 time per year. The local climate will see below zero in the winter and 90+ in the summer. I really do not what change the oil each season, and am wondering if 10w-30 (appropriately rated) is acceptable to run year round, or if I am better off with 15w-40.
Thanks for the help.

I have similar temperatures here and change oil once per year.
I run Rottella T-Synthetic 5w-40. Seems to work good.

pontiacman, One should think about changing oil more often... One needs to include how long the oil set absorbing moisture along with the hours run... Acid will build.. Maybe someone can chime in with more information on this...

I use 0w30 Mobil 1 year round in every vehicle and small engine and change once/yr in everything but the gasoline generator. Let it go 3 or 4 years. Only vehicle without it now is our 2010 VW TDI. It requires Castrol SLX 5w30 or Mobil 1 ESP 5w30.

I was wondering the same thing. I just bought a McCormick CT65U diesel and it says the same thing. I too will probably only put a little over a hundred hours a year on it and it says to change every 200. I will change it once a year though.

Cspot, my tractor is a LS built unit (I believe the Mccormicks are also) with a 4 cylinder Mitsubshi.

I may just break down and change seasonally.

Thanks for the input
