Wow... as soon as I buy any tool I scramble to use as fast as I can get it running!I bought a 3.5 Kw generator from Princess Auto going on to three decades ago I've yet to use it and I haven't even put gas in it. 8 hp B&S engine on it. It was dirt cheap at the time (slight damage to the frame around it) but by the time I had heard about a generator losing it's ability to generate if left sitting too long, it was already too long! I knew it had to be reflashed but since I didn't have one of these it never got done!

You might consider a portable welder if you have need of one.
I keep a Lincoln 305 G in my garage for power outages. It does require pulling it out the door with the pallet jack, though.

I just purchased a Harbor Freight Predator 8750/7000 13hp gas generator, for $529.00 with the wheel kit.Shopping for a portable generator. Don't want to power whole house, just some basic necessities. I see where they make a dual fuel ( gas or propane ) generator. Since we have propane for heat there will always be a supply at the house. I was thinking the size range at between 5000 to 8000 would be sufficient. We have 24 acres so i will be using it also to go out on the property for projects.
Thanks

I have to say it appears to be a 9 out 10 in quality, fit and finish. It has a cast iron Honda clone engine.

First thing I did was install an hour meter,($12.00} replaced the OEM sparkplug with a NGK plug and added oil (Rotella 15w/30W). It started on the second pull. I've since bought the HF battery with a 25% coupon and no core charge. I purchased two extra plugs an air filters on ebay.
Very important, I ran it 3 hours at no load for proper break in. At 20 hours, I will change the oil to a full synthetic.
I plugged in a Killawatt meter($18) during break in and it showed very clean Watts, volts and kHz!
My initial impression is that it a great value, very quite as compared to previous units and provides clean power.
