Bet it does, just don't get any on the paint. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif It's a little rough on that.

I would recomend playing with the mixture if your after cetane. I added the whole bottle to a 40gal tank, then did the half bottle mixture next time around. Both gave the same results in mileage and drivability. It depends on the fuel quality though. So you may be able to get by with a lesser mixture in your part of the country.

I'm not - just looking for cleaning and anti-gel. What's cetane, anyway?

Jay,

Somebody posted a trick to pouring from wide-mouthed bottles on TBN a while back and it's simple and effective. My white bottle Powerservice has a foil anti-tamper seal over the opening. I simply poked a screwdriver-sized hole in the foil near one side and a smaller hole in the foil on the other side. Now I can pour it at a 90 degree angle and a little stream just shoots out. No dribbles or anything. Obviously, this works with any bottle with a tamper resistant seal.

It's so simple I was embarassed I didn't think of it. Glad I'm not the only one "stuck in the box" /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

i just picked up a bottle of silver PS. the last couple years i used the white bottle. thought i would try the silver this time. they both smell bad, the silver gives the same protection, and lubricating quality as the white bottle, just 3 more cetane and according to the bottle a bit more cleaning ability. i never had a problem with PS, and use it in my two road vehicles as well. i like the idea with the old sta-bil container, as the PS is hard to pour into the car filler neck.

Me too. Sheesh.

Thanks for the tip - I'm gonna use it on the next bottle.

So, it's like octane for gas, just in the opposite direction. Got it.

Thanks - Jay

Higher cetane rating means faster ignition and propogation of the flame front across the combustion chamber due to the generation of ultra short existing free radials that are extremely reactive.

The paraffins are high in cetane value, while the aromatics are low in cetane value. Which is why straight cut diesel fuel #2, with allot of paraffins is great fuel. However, it is also why gasoline, with allot of aromatics, is low in cetane value and bad for diesel engines.

40 cetane is the lowest, anything below 40 diesel engines will severely knock.

45 cetane is pretty good and will work pretty good in all climates.

50 cetane is real good and is premium diesel fuel.
