Quick Hitches Which quick hitch?

I tried one of the cheapo (HF) quick hitches. After lots of wasted time and expense trying to fit my attachements (and still not getting it done right) I gave up and bought the Pats. MUCH better IMO.

One tip....if you go the "quick hitch" route....make sure the hook at the top link is positioned far enough away to be of some use. ( I think the JD brand has this solved) The HF top hook is totally useless IMO....as are several of the other brands in your list.....at least for my attachments. The hooks attachment "pins" or bolts don't allow the attachment of the implements. Duh Mine is for sale cheap ($40) if anyone is in North Central MN (Pine River area) and wants one. (I will not package and ship). I also have the center extension link for the HF unit.

What does JD's association with Yanmar have to do with anything? Who made the first one then?

The refererence to Yanmar was to place the origins of three point quick hitches well before most compact tractors were around. I have no idea who built or marketed the first one, but most AG tractor manufacturers offered them in the late 1970's or so and they weren't called I-Match.

Yes, I know JD had a CAT2 version a LONG time ago...and then they made the smaller CAT1 version when CUT's became popular. So I stand by my original statment:

they are the original makers of them-everything else is just a copy.

Thanks guys I hadn't thought much about pats system. I saw one advertised on the back of this months agri supply. It said it was an economy model made in the US by Greeenlee? industries, is that the same one we are discussing. Also I was wondering if the Pat's system is easier to hook up the PTO. It would seem that a regular Q/H would get in the way alot. and the PTO often is a pain anyway, especially running a finish mower,Rotary cutter, and a Tiller often all in one PM at the hunting lease.

Recently, on another thread, I wrote of my problems with the HF quick hitch.... honestly, it worked fine and I had no problems until I tried hooking up my bush hog... The design of the QH interfered with my connecting the hogs driveshaft.. admittedly, part of the problem was the protective shroud Kubota put over the PTO.... The bottom line? If I had it to do over again, I'd go with Pat's... either Agrisupply or Northern recently had Pats on sale at $159...

I'm going with KennyD on this one...IMO the biggest problem with Quick Hitches and the whole 3point System in general is MFG's not following ASAE Specifications...that goes for both the Hitch side and the Implement Side...

I've got the Genuine iMatch and you couldnt pry it off my tractor..most of the attachments I've bought fit like a glove with no mods (all the brand name stuff) and anything I buy that doesnt fit, quickly gets rebuilt/modified so it DOES fit.

Its easy to see why people get all bent out of shape with the QH, anytime the standards arent followed, it negates the whole benefit of this system. Which is why the Skid Steer QA for FEL's is so popular and beneficial on anything in this size range...Compact Tractors, Compact TLB's, Compact Articulated Wheel Loaders, Skid Steer's, etc of EVERY Color...that standard has been around a while and mfg's of both machines and attachments all follow it.

While you can "guarantee" it will fit if you buy the Frontier stuff, not one of my attachments is Frontier and all but one (my Sovema tiller) fit my iMatch with ZERO modifications...My Woods Box Blade and Blizzard 3pt Snowblower fit like a glove...

The benefit to the Deere (and I believe Woods/Land Pride) units is they are genuine ASAE CATI Quick Hitches...therin lies the benefit...any Major MFG like Woods and such follows the specs so their QH's and Implements fit. Heck I think some of the TSC Stuff is becoming QH compatible...

Believe me, once you go with the iMatch or similar brand, you'll never go back.
