Crown,

I have a LandPride RBT1572 tilting rear blade that I use with my B7500. As others have already mentioned, my dealer also recommended the 72" blade since it would cover the tire tracks when the blade is fully angled. ( I have the bar-turf tires that are quite wide )

I will admit that when the snow is deep I wish I had the 60" blade. Snow deeper than say 10 or 12 inches, especially if the snow is heavy and wet, and I find the blade is almost useless except for cleanup after using the FEL to move the bulk of the snow. The shorter blade would have been more effective. On a B7500 the 72" blade can be spun 180 degrees while attached to the 3pt as glennmac mentioned.

Also, if you plan on getting a tilting blade, again I would recommend the 60" blade. The 72" is too long and I can just barely tilt it to the first of the three available positions on the LandPride. Any further and the lower corner of the blade hits the ground even with the 3pt fully raised; the tractor is not tall enough.

Hope this helps.

Anthony,

Good stuff! I'm on the fence trying to decide between a 5' and 6' for my B2410, so your experience with the B7500 tells me a lot. There aren't many choices in 5' blades, but that is the length the B2410 is supposed to take. I don't like the thought of the extra loads on the 3ph that a 6' would put on if I was using it to trench, and I think that the 5' angled slightly would still cover my tracks OK.

I think I'd better go re-register with my new username: "Rear_blade_psycho"/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

I was told by a dealer today that I should get an rb2596 to go on my L3010 for plowing and grading. That sounds like massive overkill. I was thinking about an rbt1572. He said the tilt on the 3pt would give me enough tilt. I think he`s nuts but maybe i`m wrong. What kind of tilt can you get from just the 3pt? Doesn`t seem like very much to me.

You can probably "tilt" the blade using the 3pt hitch by
lengthening one check chain and shortening the other.

Probably would not be too effective and would be kind of
cumbersome as compared to the real tilting blade mechanism

Steve -- Your dealer told you that!?! I have an L3010 with loaded ags and there are times with the 72" blade catching roots, rocks, etc that I simply lose traction. I simply can't imagine going wider. I really like my setup: an LP3572 with TNT. The blade angles AND tilts, and with the TNT I can offset it nearly two feet to the side if I need to. Makes getting the snow out of my drainage ditch a snap.

Yeah, can you believe he said that?! I figured he had one instock and was trying to unload it on me. I`ll be sticking with a 6' blade. Can you turn that 360 degrees and clear the tractor?

I have a B7100HST with a Farm King Rear blade. It will rotate 360 degrees and has three angle adjustments for either pulling or pushing. The blade is about 14 inches high. The blade angle to the horizontal can be adjusted with the three point hitch so that it is in a cutting or pulling mode.
With rear chains a light snow can be handled if the roadway width is not to great. Otherwise the rear of the tractor will pull over as the size of the windrow increases. More snow and there is not enough tracyor weight to handle it.
The front loader works much better in heavy snow with the rear blade acting as a counterweight. I would suggest a 5 0r 8 hp. walk behind snow blower will be much quicker and more economical.

Great info on the 4 blade positions! I have the RB1560 blade and have 2 paved driveways about 140' each and one gravel driveway around 120' long. Have you, or anyone, tried using the skidshoes that are available for the bottom of the blade. It seems like you would be able to use the concave side of the blade even on gravel. Any thoughts on that?
Thanks.
David
