Which rouch cut mower

I'm looking at tractors in the Kubota B7800/ L2800 and B7610 range. The 2800/ 7800 have 22 hp pto's. the 7610 has an 18 hp pto

All are ok with the other stuff I want to do with it, but I do have some light brush cutting on the edges of my property and som light field cutting in the middle. No overgrown hay fields and no 3 inch brush, but still more than a finish mower can handle

Any recomendations for a mower? The Frontier RC10's claim to be rated for 18 - 20 hp. Any others out there that can reasonably be operated at 18 - 22 pto hp?

I use a JD LX4 (48") brush hog on my 18.5 hp 4010. It'll cut stuff up to hood high. I use it with my FEL in place all the time; so, the weight is no problem.

I had no problems with my old 48" Tebben economy model TC96-40 rotary cutter on my old Ford 1100 (13/11 HP) which if my memory serves me correctly required 15 PTO HP. The medium duty Tebben RC TC94-400 requires 15 PTO HP. Tebben rotary cutters are pretty popular with my local tractor dealerships. My avatar gives you an impression of what I cut in my lower field. general rule of thumb is 5hp per foot.

perhaps a bit less if its light cutting, perhaps a bit more in heavy brush.

rule of thumb also holds true for finish mowers as i can bog down my 30hp machine in the spring doing weekly lawn mowings with my 72" MMM deck

All I can add is a Land Pride 60" cutter has done quite well for me. See the pics and thread here.

Land Pride recommends 20 PTO HP minimum, but I ran this cutter (on the same field shown in the pics) behind a 16 PTO HP Deere a few years back. Worked well, too...

Thanks guys. Good to know that the tractor/ cutter combinations I'm looking at should do the job. Not looking to mow pastures, just keeping my edge clean and 2 smallish fields.

JBrumberg...WMass? Is that like Worcestor or all the way out where Sasquatch has been sighted (Southwick/Granville/ Tolland ;-) )

Also consider the width of the cutter, I recommend getting one that covers the tractor's wheel width.
