Which snow blower?

BTW. I ended up ordering the 75" Meteor pull type with a chute rotator. My dealer is charging me $3650. For once it helps to be in Canada as it is not made too far away from where I live.

Canoetrpr,

That unit really looks neat! I was thinking about going with that same unit, but my dealer was not fond of the tractor four wheeling through the heavier snow drifts. Let me know how you make out with the pull type.

My dealer was concerned too. I decided to bite the bullet anyway and see if I made the right decision. The pull type blowers look too cool not to try.

I mentioned the pull behind snow blowers from MK Martin to my dealer, and
he told me he's never seen or sold a pull behind model, and can't see how
they would work well in deep snow. Canoetrpr I'd also be interested to see
how you like that unit once you get to try it out.

Interesting....I haven't read much about pulltype blowers around here. Be sure to expand your thoughts here after using it for a while.

And post some pictures.

Last year I picked up a used Normand N60 60" blower with hydraulic controls on Craigslist. It was the buy of the century for me. Its built like a tank and with last year's mega snows made quick work on my 500' driveway.

I don't know what would have happened if I was still plowing the driveway - there was so much snow I am sure after a couple of the storms we got I would never have been able to get to the garage.

I saw a nice 72" Normand at my dealers. It looked liked it was solidly built.

I just got a new MK Martin 75" Meteor snowblower. They redesign a number of things on the 2010 and 2011 models making the blower much better. It has a newer hydraulic chute rotator, a fan plate added to keep the fan from throwing some of the snow back out of the blower, a front chute cover to keep the veocity of the snow from dropping and the deflector is nozzle shaped now for better performance. Below are some pictures of the new blower.
Looks to be a very nice built blower, however I could nor see adjustable skid shoes does it have them?

Here in southern New Mexico we got a light snow overnight but not enough to bother with.

canoetrpr, I think the pull type should be a good compromise for your taller tractor, just don't wait too long before you use it.

I have a 78" pull erskine with all the hyd. options. it pulls fine through the snow until i start getting above my axle depth. i have chains on all four tires but once it gets that deep it slow going and once its about 6" higher then the axles its not pretty. fyi my driveway is over 2700' crushed asphalts and hilly and drifts daily. i would recommend this set up to about anyone except the person who might need to clear a heavy deep snow regularly then id go with a front blower. i have a hyd. top link which comes in very hand as I can skim the first snow fall and not pick up the gravel.
