There are a ton of engine driven welders around this area, like I mentioned earlier, more than 220v plug in. Alas, these are outside of budget. Anything more than $200 or $300 and the wife will start reminding me how much wood floor we could've bought w/ the money. For example, for the cost of that Sig Sauer, we could have put wood floors in the living room. My response, "kind hard to conceal carry a wood floor".

Yes it does, hard to believe that is a 200-amp machine with a 60% duty cycle! Like I said before, best arc for the money. I've spent a lot of money on welding machines in my time, in 1982 I spent $9,378.00 on Miller welder. If Miller still made that machine it would probably cost close to 20K!

I got nothing to win or loose if you buy an Everlast or not. But I would really like someone to show me a better arc for the money!
Hey, who knows how long they'll last, but how many hours does a weekend warrior put on a machine in a year? If you think you're so tough, stay behind that hood for 8-hours a day, then x's 5, and so on. Trust me it gets old real fast!

Kinda interesting when you put it like that... I enjoy welding, and learning but when I think of 8 hours every day of hot, sweaty, smoke eating... well.. it does kinda lose it's luster.

lol, I may have to see what kind of prices he can give me on the 140 and 160. I really didn't need much tempting, I've been interested in the 140 for a while. Just leery of the lack of record.

Being the weekend warrior, I probably won't put more than 3 or 4 hours a week on it.
As much as I'd love to get out from behind my desk, I know I wouldn't survive welding 8 hours a day. **** I have trouble walking from my truck to the house in this heat. That might be a little exaggeration. Don't tell my wife or she'll have me out working all weekend in this 100+ garbage.

Yeah, I dont know anything about the 140, but it does look interesting from a portable go anywhere any voltage machine. I can vouch for the 160, Shield Arc (whose opinion I respect greatly) seems to like his PA200 a lot. I don't really have a dog in the hunt either, whether you buy and Everlast or some other brand, I am just saying I am very satisfied with mine so far, and have used it a fair amount for a hobbyist/ home fabricator. I have no idea how it would hold up in a production setting. But an AC225 is also a home hobbyist welder too, with less duty cycle than my little green guy, and weighs 10 times as much. Not that it does not work, and it served me well for over 15 years, and paid for it self 10 times over in repaired stuff. I saved enough in the first week I had it repairing a riding lawn mower to pay for the thing. No matter what you buy, if you can learn to weld, and repair things you will be a better person in my opinion. All my life up until I got a welder, I could grind/cut/and remove metal.. I just could never put any back:laughing: Well with a welder you can put it back and "glue" things together. And that is nice. Good luck in your search and learning..
