which to buy B2920 TLB or B3200 TLB & why

For that size property, I would go big. I went with the B2620 for my 2.5 acres. I have the TLB and with the hoe and bucket mounted, it can still put some ruts into the lawn if you are not careful. The 3200 is significantly heavier - not much of a lawn mower anymore. The smaller size was also better for me in the tight woods.

I went with the 2620 over te 2320 for the bigger loader and a few more HP. The 2920 was another 1000 or so and I got a nice deal on a leftover 2620.

Thanks a lot for all feedback. Now i get an email from the dealer stating he has a bx24 2008 for 13250. I wanted better clearance but 13250 seems like a good price. not sure i would be happy in the end. but at the price it seems like I should at least think about it. I was leaning toward getting the 2920. i still need to go in and talk to the dealer about the backhoe and how much difference there is between the 65 and 76.

do you think I should consider the bx24 or just stick with either the 2920 or 3200.

Wait - you sold your BX and now considering another BX. I dont think that would be the most prudent move...but hey thats me.

I feel at a minimum a 2X20 platform would be a better fit. The BX is a outstanding tractor but if you are after more clearance and a little more HP without too too big of a form factor the 2x20 fulfills that role - the BX....any BX does not.

I think you are right. I will just want another tractor next year if i buy another bx. I have not had a backhoe yet and i am sure i will find lots of uses for it since i am getting older and fatter lol. I did look at both tractors side by side but I will go out tomorrow and see how they feel to drive coming from a bx. thanks for getting my mind right.

NRA,

I had a BX24 and ended up with the 2920. I got rid of my BX for the same reasons you did. I wanted more hydraulic capacity, 3 ranges, and greater ground clearance. Plus I did not want to run the thing near full throttle to get power out of the machine.
Many of the 24's have an abrupt stop in the high range when traveling in reverse and then switching to forward motion. Enough to make many complain, and to my knowledge it can not be adjusted.
If the 3200 were available when I purchased my 2920 I would have gone with that machine. Don't get me wrong I love my 2920 I just feel the loader could be a bit stronger. The 3200 and the 2630 have about the same hydraulic capacity making them a bit stronger than the 3030. Enough to notice? Who knows!
My 2920 is smooth, quiet and has 2 rear pto speeds. I has never failed to do anything I have asked, and I live in an area with alot of clay. I seldom run the thing over 1800 rpm's when using the loader.
If you are looking to save money I opted to not get the hoe for the 2920. I figured I could get a mini-x for the weekend for $300. All my trenching/ digging needs are satisfied this way. I spent the $7000 on a MMM, 63" front end blower, and rim guard for my tires.
Good Luck!

How'd you come to that conclusion?

I know the 2630 has larger hydraulic capacity than the 3030, but my assumption is the extra capacity may be required for the lower hp engine to maintain the same lifting specs. If you look at Kubota's specs, the 2630 and 3200 do NOT have higher lift capacities - the FEL capacity of the 3200 is actually just a tad less than the 2630 and 3030, and the 3pt lift capacity is quite a bit less than both the 2630 and 3030.

Well I went to the dealer today and worked out a deal for a 2920 loader back hoe and thumb for the hoe. Both seemed like fine tractors. Dealer said not much differnce between the 65 and 76. i did get the 16" bucket because thats what was already on the hoe he had in stock. they will put it all together and get it out to me on saturday. i hope i wont regret it but then again since i never owned or really used a 3200 ignorance is bliss so they say. but then again they also say then knock the smile off my face.

thanks to all

I'm sure that you will be very happy with your choice. My B2620 has been a great tractor so far, and I do love the size of it, both for it's clearance, and for it's ability to get in tight places in my woods, etc. The new B's are very well balanced tractors indeed!

Well the 2920 did not work out for me after all. It was the loader that did it for me. The dealer is picking it up tomorrow and will drop off the 3200 when they get a b76 backhoe in. I should have listen to those that said go bigger. I felt bad about putting the dealer through all that trouble so I also added a bush hog to my order. I have a land pride tiller rtr0550 now. will that be wide enough for the 3200?

Well, better to have figured it out now than after 20 hours when you can't return it.

The 0550 is pretty light duty and narrow, but unless you can get it sold for a reasonable price, it probably isn't worth trying to upgrade, unless you are going to be logging 20 hours a season on it.

I was able to sell my 1550 to my neighbor when I moved, so he could use it on his BX - he's got a pretty big garden, and I no longer have much of a use for it, so it worked out well for both of us. Had I not had a buyer, I would have kept it and just used it, though it's a bit small for the larger B's.

I did find it interesting that your dealer said there wasn't much difference between the 6.5' hoe and the 7.5' hoe. There is. 1' of digging depth and reach is a lot.

I think you'll be plenty pleased with the bigger machine.
