Which tooth bar - and where to buy?

That is one of the better looking one piece tooth type bars I have seen. Very nice. Markham was one of my choices because I wanted the replacable tooth type bar, and I wanted narrower tooth spacing than standard. I do like the set screw mount idea if they don't get loose and need tightening all the time. I'd have had to tell the dealer it was the wrong color though......... CAT yellow from a Kubota dealer? I think that may violate some sort of federal law! Stan

When we just spec'ed out our new BX24, I looked at Markham, but my dealer is now a Gearmore dealer, and they were able to match the Markham price for a 6-tooth Gearmore bar ($185). It does not require any drilling, being held on by 4 large set screws, with I kind of like.

So far, it has worked out pretty well helping dig into the hard rocky clay that passes for soil where we live.

You're right about the color. I got a can of spray paint to remedy that, though.

My dealer threw in a W.R. Long FTB-48, so don't know what it cost - but after 20 hours of digging clay, pushing saplings, and clearing brush - I like it. Of course I'm a complete newbie. Also curious that it wasn't mentioned in this thread - is it junk?

I was a little apprehensive about them drilling holes in my new toy - but am fine now that it's dirty. Thinking about a wear blade and how to devise a snow plow to attach to the same bolt holes

no, it's not junk- WR Long makes very good equipment

I've got the WR Long flat tooth bar on my 72" WR Long 4in1 bucket. I would not have any other because it makes the bucket much more versatile. You cannot backdrag with a normal toothbar and get a perfectly smooth result. The teeth would leave grooves in the soil, unless you take the toothbar off. Make sure you get the flat tooth bar.

I concur. As the owner of a toothbar that braces underneath the bucket when I back-drag (as I did tonight clearing snow) the toothbar bottom leaves signficantly deep rows in the snow and digs up the ground too! I take it off in the winter...which is now well started in these parts.

I disagree. You can back drag and get smooth results by curling the bucket slightly. I believe this is how the BX owners manual says to backdrag anyway.
