Which tractors are which? Who made who?

The living standard in the US will go down as a result of free trade it is inevitable. Free trade works out to be a re-distribution of money from the ritcher countries to the poorer. And since there is only so much money, the ritch (relitavely speaking ) US folks will get poorer and the poorer countries will get ritcher. We can slow or minimize this process by buying American made stuff, but cannot stop it. Of course the corporations that have footholds in both areas will benefit greatly, but not the average American worker.

Thats hillarious...I will have to refer to my JD 4400 as the mutt.
I do have to give John Deere credit, they did bring the right forces together to make a decent tractor, not saying it is better or less of a tractor than anyone elses. My problem is I would like to try and operate all of the different brands and I do not have enough money or time to do so.I would probably stay John Deere but I can not help to be curious about the other brands.
I think the sharpest looking compact is the Case Compact.

slowrev,
the exact thing is happening in this country as we speek.
It's called welfare and all give-away programs like it.
Unfortunately, we live in a society that pays a woman to produce and a farmer not to. What does that tell us? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

The "stuff" seems to be working. I seem somewhat lubricated now!!

As far as this country goes, It's my tilt that NAFTA and the great American "giveaways" will slowly reduce us to a third world country. While we are trying to raise the standard of living across the globe, what we are really doing is lowering our standard to everyone else's.

As an American citizen from a family that traces back to before there were even thirteen stars on our flag, this problem of our sending more and more manufacturing jobs out of this country, has concerned me a lot.
Even more concern is the fact that I am a tractor dealer. None of the lines handled are being built here.
What does make me feel better is realizing that a large percentage of the total price of the tractors we sell comes from and stays here in the US. Many jobs are funded from this money, from the importer, the shipping companies, and the dealers, not to mention the banks and insurance
companies.
It would be better if 100% of the money came from and stayed here, but after all it is a world economy now, and we are still getting a substantial portion of the total.

I hate to break your bubble, but if I go with your statement about a large percentage of the money stay's here....many jobs are funded......Importers, shipping, banks, insurance.....

Not one of these jobs is a MANUFACTURING job. They are all SERVICE jobs. This country is built on manufacturing jobs. Service jobs don't buy $150,000 dollar houses or for that matter $40,000 vehicles. The eroding of the manufacturing base in this country is what is bringing our standard of living down. Service jobs are fine for a service economy where the costs of goods and services are in-line with it. However, the costs of goods and services in this country are geared to a manufacturing economy.

I can trace my family heritage back before the pilgrims landed at Plymouth Rock, I am 1/4 Cherokee!!!

You are right on the mark about that, mostly the CEO's and upper management can afford those houses.
