I must be in the ONE SPOT OF INDIANA that is NOT buried under snow. I've heard of reports of as much as 31" of snow that hit areas in central Indiana. Many of my employees drove through "white out" conditions along the southern edge of Lake Michigan this morning. At my house, we only have about 2" of light powder. Enough to give us a white Christmas, but not enough to make if fun to take the tractor out of the garage. In fact the snow was so light that the blower bascially spit it out of the chute as fresh powder that scattered in the wind. Using the FEL to push the snow didn't even require shifting into 4wd. While I was out this morning clearing the drive, the lovely Mrs_Bob was inside watching the Chicago newscasters in a total panic about the blizzard conditions in Indiana. So I was totally depressed by the lack of snow and the talking heads on the TV news were telling a totally different story!!!

Spent most of the morning trying to move HEAVY snow. Just under 2ft of snow with a layer of ice encrusted snow on the top. Kept bottoming out my Yanmar. Finally had to give up and give the plow man a call.

This snow was not picnic at all, but I guess it could have been worse. Just sourth of us they had 1/2inch of ice to deal with on top of 4-8inches of snow.

When we left my in-laws house in Michigan City this past weekend, we left in 15 inches of snow! Luckily we were in the four wheel drive truck. They ended up getting 24". About 25 miles south of Valparaiso the snow was gone. Here in Southern Indiana, we got about 8 inches last night, supposed to be -2 tomorrow night and -8 Christmas Eve. Long range forecast says mid 40's by Tuesday!

Hey Bob, here is some idea of what the snow was like. This is the boy by our pond, and we did not get the really hard hit part. He is about 24 inches tall

I was one of the lucky ones to get the ice!! /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif No snow, just thick ice. Power was out for 12 hours. My parents and brothers house are still without power. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif


I wish this would have been snow. The Kioti would have been in heaven, and me too!! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I will have to take a picture tomorrow of the trees. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
