I have had my 1450 cub cadet for 4 years,, and LOVE it..
This years I have had to replace the deck 44in. cut "used" /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif / and the motor overhaud as of last week. This is the 2nd time i have cut sent being repaired.

When i first start up the mower for about 5 to 10 minutes it blow white smoke from the exhaust after some time it stop and seems to be fine. Any concern i should worry about?
I am calling the repair shop Tuesday to see if there is a problem.

Glad to be on board with TractorByNet.. any other 1450 out there?

White smoke on a Diesel engine is unburned fuel. The engine is not burning all the fuel until it is warmed up.

You have not filled out your user profile so I have no idea where you are. If you are in a cold climate this may be normal. If you are in North America South of Northern Canada this is probably abnormal and the fuel injector pump metering needs adjusting.

Hey Shiloh!
I'm not knowledgeable on Cub Cadets, but one that I ran 20 years ago (cutting the bosses' grass) had a gasoline engine. Purred like a kitten. If you're blowing white smoke until fully warm, it sounds like one or more cylinders has a ring problem. The other possibility is worn valve guides. In any case, you mention having done an engine overhaul. Did you mean to say tune-up? You don't mention when the problem started -- before or after the engine work. Watch your oil consumption, and consult a good mechanic. Are you in a position to pull the motor, have the block prep'd and do a light rebuild (Rings, bearings, timing chain, water pump, carb etc., etc.,)? That will give her a new lease on life. Perhaps someone produces a rebuild kit for these motors? Anyone?

As v8dave mentioned, you are seeing unburnt diesel. Make sure your glow plugs/glow plug relay is working as that is the main item to cause white smoke startups. If that is funtioning, then you might have an injector on its way out.

My TC29D has done the white smoke thing since day one. Complained to the dealer, they have looked at it a couple of times and pretty much said there isn't much they can do about it. They told me to make sure I use the full length and then some on the glow plugs which does help. I have used injector cleaners and nothing seems to really help so I live with it. My tractor starts fine with no white smoke but about 2 minuts after it runs the white smoke for about 30 seconds and then clears up.

Hello Shiloh,
I have a 1450 Cub Cadet for 14 years. You have a 14 horse power kohler gas engine.White smoke is usually condensation.
You may be in a cold climate or have moisture in the muffler. If the machine is not using any oil then I would say its normal. Another possibilty could be an external oil leak and oil is being cooked off until the machine is warmed up.If you have any questions on that machine feel free to e mail me at: gugy@optonline.net Oh by the way there is a forum for Cub cadets on this site. just scrol down
