I wouldn't be surprised to see my old F150 outlast the new Silverado :)

My 89 F150 2x 4sp 6cyl was a cherry right out of the paint shed when I bought it somewhere back in the zeros. It is my wooding rig, beat to pieces, body looks like a rambling wreck, mechanicals as near perfect as something with 160K can be.

Around here, most dealers are offering $12,000 - $13,000 off the sticker price of new 3/4 ton trucks. I've often wondered what would happen if I bought one of those trucks at $13,000 off the sticker price, and drove it for a year, then traded it in. Would the blue book value be close to what I paid for it? Or would it depreciate down from the sticker price or down from the actual price?

I currently drive a 2012 Dodge Ram 2500 6.7L 4x4 that had a sticker price of about $47,000. I bought it new in October 2012 for about $37,000. It is the ST model which is Dodge's 'work truck' model.

My first car was a 1959 Pontiac Catalina w/42,00 miles, $335 @ auction, next was a new 1971 F100 Ford (leftover) w/360 4 speed for $3000 @ $102.55/month. Then $3000 for a 76 Ford, light 3/4 w/50K miles on it & up from there!

I have not heard much about the new Chevy Colorado. The Tacoma is a tough segment leader to compete with but last I saw the Colorado was in second place. Albeit a distant second, but still second.

Ha! There are dealers around here that still have '14 F-150's and '14 Silverado's sitting on the lot and they won't even come down on them that much. Not even close. They'd rather sit on them and let them rot rather than give you a deal on one that's almost about to be two model years old.

I bought the only new car of my life at a dealer with a small lot. He couldn't afford to have it take up space so I got a good deal.

I've bought my trucks from a small dealer. The mega super size dealers with all the volume always seem to like to play games and jerk you around.
