Mostly, people short me of gas if and when i lend a vehicle- most recently was my truck and trailer to the neighbor kid when he was moving into town. He promised to fill it but I knew his real finances- I couldn't afford to fill it at that time.
Anyway, a few borrowing stories from my end.
Borrowed a older Troy built tiller from my best friend; and within oh 1/2 hour it stopped running. I had not checked the oil, and it was dry. As this tiller had a extra shaft for reverse gear, I couldn't just replace it with with a standard 5 horse engine; so I spent about 200 dollars, rebuilt it, added electronic ignition and painted it pretty!
Needed to cut into a home made septic tank to pump it- I had a sawsall at my parents house-but borrowed one from my father-in-law, just next door. His was a great Harbor Freight line- did about 5 strokes when the plastic gears stripped. He got a real one for Christmas.
Then was doing laminate flooring in the house (in fact, he owns the house I'm doing all the work on) and borrowed his "under 100 dollar" table saw- Dad has one but not practical to move. Its motor sized up during the project- he got a replacement saw.
Borrowed a old Chevy truck from a friend years ago- to tow my 1950 Ford from Oregon to Arizona. He ended up with two new tires, a water pump, leaf spring centering bolt, tune up - couldn't get the quadra-jet corrected befor I returned it..
Anyway, don't you all buy cheap tools and ask to lend them to me- the free replacement policy applied to my family.
