I have both Husky and Weathertech.

I've got about 250,000 miles on the Husky and about 350,000 miles on the Huskey between two other vehicles.

I've found the weathertech to be more expensive, but I prefer them over Husky. The weathertech seems to be more molded on the edges to hold most liquids on the matt for snow melt or dropped liquids. The Huskey has also broken down over time IMO over the weathertech. That said, during winter, the weathertech seems more slippery on the matt over the Huskey with snow melt.

I just looked online for the last pair I bought for a Honda Pilot. The Weathertech was about $100 more, but to me worth the price difference for the front floor matts.

That said, it does seem like Husky makes a more "molded" matt, just not an option for the pilot, and it costs more. Perhaps I just got the wrong set with Husky to begin with.

I also have been looking. I don't want diesel. I don't tow that often but yet i still want to be able to tow 14,000 lbs, so i can't justify the additional cost of diesel. The Gas engine with the 10 speed transmission is nice. Dodge and Ford have some impressive towing capacities for 2020. Issue I am running into is fuel tank size. The dodge the max fuel tank size is 30 gal. You can go to cab chassis and get large tank. Ford you can get a 36 gal tank which is better. I need to be able to get 4 hours driving on a tank. They are work trucks one would think they would have larger tanks....... i almost bought a new dodge tradesman until i found out the fuel tank size. On the ford side i can't get past the aluminum body. At $60,000 i don't think i should have to settle.
The dodge cab chassis would work, but by the time you add a body and what not price gets up there. It also ends up being longer than I would like.
So, I will keep patching the old chevy with the 4 speed and the 6.0. It screams when it down shifts, but even if the engine comes apart those 6.0 parts are cheap.

You must be looking at the short beds. My 2020 F250 with 8' bed has a 48 gallon tank.

I just bought a new Ram Power Wagon ( THE Taco Wagon ). It came with Weathertech floor mats. Also every "creature feature" known to God & man and with a price tag to match.

So far it's been a very fine vehicle.

One particularly nice feature. My lower back will frequently ache. Old age, over stressed, over weight - who knows. I step out and enter the Taco Wagon. Half an hour in the seat with the heated lumbar region - all is well and back to normal.
Aha... so THAT'S the taco wagon you were talking about getting ashed!

I've put weathertech floor mats in all my vehicles for years. Not sure if they're specifically weathertech brand, but in any case they're all the "dish" type that have to be ordered vehicle-specific, as they're molded to match the floor. They're an excellent investment for carpeted vehicles, but they aren't the same as having vinyl flooring. Spill a drink or some other liquid down there, all is well as long as you know about it, and can coast to a stop in a straight line. But in any other scenario, it's contained about as well as in a cookie sheet and it's going onto the carpet with any movement that would budge the needle on a G-meter.

As my daily driver, this will see kid duty as well. If one were to lift the floor mats in my yukon they would find stale French fries that are now permanently fused with the carpet fibers with Laffy taffy; how they got there, as mysterious as socks that disappear in the dryer. Not to mention wide swaths of dark stain, probably soda that someone spilled and was afraid to admit, so it sat there without me knowing about it until the carpet color was permanently altered.

I got GMC full coverage winter mats for my Denali and they do a very good job covering most of the carpet.

To me that is the simplest solution that should work in any brand/model truck. But if you want the real thing, some trucks still offer the vinyl floor as a no cost option on higher end models. You'd have to special order a truck most likely. Can't imagine that is a common configuration.

Some people suggest you should follow the 1/10 rule and only spend 1/10th your annual income on a vehicle. I wonder how close people follow that?

Not very many. Are you talking total price or financed price that year?

If I followed that rule I would be shopping at junk yards. You can't buy anything in a 4x4 pickup for under ten grand, unless you want to spend more time under it than in it.

I’ve never even heard of this “rule” before but I agree it’s not enough. You’d have to be making upwards of 6 figures to buy even a beater truck and if you’re making that you can drive a nice truck if you want.
