Who makes a work truck with creature comforts?

Correct. Thing is ram still has a 30gal tank on there 8' bed. Ford short box 36gal.

And there's one of the reasons I bought a Ford with a 8' bed. I was always a GM guy, but I finally had to admit that Ford has all the rest beat.

Ram bighorns come in two basic versions. The upgraded version has heated seats both sides, driver seat electric adjust of all kinds, dual havc, blue tooth, satellite radio, elect and heated mirrors, electric window in the back of the cab, heated seats, and lots more. Including a exhaust brake that works extremely well.

$70,000 range for 3500 4x4 with 4 doors and 8 ft bed, Asian transmission and HO diesel. Also limited slip rear end differential, which the freaking traction control does not even come close to replacing!!! Nicest work truck I have ever owned, most expensive also.

You can custom order the exact things you want, but for me it was the truck close to what I wanted, so I got weather tech mats front and back. Did not want the carpet but did not want to wait on getting one.

Ram tradesman in 4x4 diesel, exhaust brake, Bluetooth radio and satellite smallish screen, normal duty engine and transmission (good for about 17,000 trailor tow I think, would be best to check on that) 4 door 3500 around $47,000 and can be order with extras desired.

Drop to 3/4 ton and prices go down quite a bit.

If you have time then create the package you want and check out the prices and be patient if you order one, you will need to be :)

Ram and ford both have some nice towing capacities in gas. Not familiar with the other brands much.

Fuel tanks are easy to replace after market if needed, and you have the money to do so. Some are available to be upgraded.

Biggest number one problem is finding a knowledgeable salesman. Best to spend some time researching on a variety of sources before you shop. The traction control / limited slip differentials not doing anything similar are a good example of a very common issue that many in sales do not know.

you can get a Ford Platinum 250/350 with a vinyl floor

Vinyl floors have their downside in snow country. Getting in and out with snow on your boots drag snow in, which eventually seeps down through and soaks the insulation. Then the floorboards rot.
I try to lift the mats and not drive for a few days in spri0n0gt0ime, whereas with carpet you just take out the mats and let it dry that way.

I was pretty much all GM until the blew it with the 8 speed trans. Interesting thing is the 10 speed in the ford was designed with GM and if my memory serves me correct GM is not offering it with the gas smaller engine. I also believe the 10 speed in the ram has been around in Europe for a while.

Work truck creature comforts? You need to be able to drive it more than 300 miles. When it is working like it is designed, towing a trailer and you have to be able to sit in it for 4 hours. otherwise you are paying for your employees to get out stretch and and fill up the fuel tank.
With that said try and get a "work" truck with what I call a must! good seats with lumbar support and not have to get all the stuff you do not need in a work truck.
on the ram side you have to step up to a big horn package to get the seats with the lumbar support. Last time i checked I do not need to be paying my employees to be listening to a good stereo in the "work" truck. They do however need the "creature" comforts of good seats. At 60,000 plus it needs to be a "work" truck. I do not need a grocery getter.
And yes i am looking for a short bed, please don't make fun of me:)

Ford and GM co-developed that 10-speed but they each do their own software that controls shifts/etc. Can't say I noticed any issues in the Fords I drove recently, but after living with the 10-speed for a couple months in my GMC, I am really impressed. It always seems to be in the right gear, no hesitation, no confusion, and drops down right away. And the spread of ratios is impressive. 1st is much lower than my last truck, which effectively makes it feel like I have a lower-geared rear end. And 9-10 are higher than my last truck, which lets it loaf on the highway. It's a huge improvement over previous truck transmissions.

Didn't realize gm offered the 10 speed behind there small block. I will have to take another look. Maybe GM has it figured out after the issues with there 8 speed.
Don't want to get too far off the work truck creature comfort thing. But having a 10 speed and not having the harsh down shift IMO is a creature comfort, in a work truck. My work Truck gets handed down to the shop, so it can't be too comfy but yet needs to still be a work truck. The combination of the 10 speed and a gas engine is nice. Still have the fuel tank, long/short box, aluminium body issue to wrestle with :) don't want to start that debate here. Don't want to be the one getting this post off track. I am thankful someone pointed out the 30 gal fuel tank on the ram otherwise I would be owning a work truck with a small fuel tank. For me the work truck is going to be a bit of a grocery getter before it becomes a true "work" truck, hence the 4 doors and short bed.
My current work truck has the vinyl floors. Won't do that again. Like others said winter it is an issue. Carpet and the weather tec floor mats is the way i will go next time. Current truck everything is manual and i can live with manual window. However, power door locks..... leaning over to lock the door ugh. I have to walk around and lock it with a key now. I do however try to go places where you do not have to lock your truck:) The cruse works, hey. AC, don't think that has worked for 4 years, that would be nice to have back.
My creature comfort list is pretty short, however you can't buy a truck with the short list I have. ugh:mad:
