I stocked up when our store opened, got a bunch at 10.99/2.5g. Just about out now. Time to re-up while crude is low.

What about getting a bulk tank and get it delivered? Should be cheaper by the gallon that way too.

You could buy a gallon of the RK oiol then send some off to Blackstone.

Not sure why one would need to send in a virgin sample of RK to Blackstone, when the Petroleum Quality Institute of America has done that for us and posted the results.

I wish RK sold a 5W-40 synthetic or semi synthetic. Or even 10W-30.

Don't overlook Mystik brand (Citgo). A solid brand with a good reputation. Can usually find at many farm and home locations and at very good pricing many times. They have syn blends and full synthetics. Theisens is the major Farm and Home type store near me and they have a pretty good product line of Mystik products available.

I did not know that. But it's cheaper for a reason, right?

If you read the MDSS, it will tell you which standards and manufacturers specs it meets. That will tell you if it's cheap or not.

For years I bought brand name oil but after reading enough of these posts and comparisons I have come to believe there is value in house branded oil if the MFDSS shows that the specs match.

But only an oil analysis will tell you the real story. MSDS does not list that. Its like saying Chinamart Super Tech is as good as T6 - it's not.

Oops, didn't know that.

Speaking of stores closing down, a TSC store closed in WI. I figure cause it was 10 miles from a nice Fleet Farm. Fleet Farms are alot better then any TSC I have seen up here. My favorite store for all my non grocery shopping.

Like someone else said.. they don't blow advertising dollars sponsering race cars and such.

those advertising dollar costs have to go somewhere... and that's what they do tack it on tot he real cost of the oil.

YES! Because they are not sponsoring race cars and running ads in glossy magazines like the name brands are, and spending gobs of money in marketing nonsense to convince you to buy it! But let's take a look....

PQIA analysis of RK 15w40

Rural King SAE 15W-4 API CJ-4/SM Heavy Duty Diesel

PQIA analysis of Rotella T3 15w40

Petroleum Quality Institute of America

PQIA analysis of Delo 400 15w40

Petroleum Quality Institute of America

And PQIA analysis of Delvac 1300 15w40

Petroleum Quality Institute of America

Rural King 15w40 holds it's own quite nicely compared to these name brands. Check the numbers out for yourself.
