Who owns an oil lamp?

I don't like the scented oils and I find kerosene smelly as well. I noticed on the Dietz webpage that they sold an oil - W.T. Kirkman Oil and Electric Lanterns: 32 oz. Medallion Lamp Oil/Kerosene Substitute that does not smell. There price is good but the shipping is expensive.

Keep the wicks trimmed. Growing up my Mom cleaned the glass chimneys using newspapers - I tried it and it works great.

Enjoy but be safe.

I've found the low sulfur kerosene to have less smell as well.

Guessing 5-6 ,haven't used them for several years now. With Led flashlights we've been using them for the short times when we didn't connect the generator. But we still have them just in case.

I've got a couple unleaded lamps for camping plus a duel fuel stove.

Have only used a few times in 15 years and no problems

we have one for emergency lighting in power outage.

Probably own a dozen, mostly antique. Haven't used them in years. Neatest one is an old miners lamp, solid brass with a globe about a quarter inch thick from England used for mine quality air testing.

Hi All,

Sandy, for us really helped us fine tune things. We had our power out for three days. We got a Detz lantern for outside work and 3 wall lamps in the house. Plan of getting two more so we can light all the rooms needed. We also have several LED flashlights with rechargeable batteries in them. We can recharge them via our cars or our outbuilding solar panels.
