Plan your trip so you will be there on Monday and Tuesday, not much trafiic at all then. You can stay down in Robbinsville and you'll be close to all the great riding that area has to offer, there is so much more than just the dragon.

Agreed! I also went through fairly early in the day. I had heard a million horror stories with bikes passing on both sides of other bikes etc.. It was a nice ride. Went through once just enjoying it and looking around. Then the next time I tried to pick up the pace a little bit. It's fun, but there aren't too many bad roads in that part of the world. Another good spot is Northwest Arkansas. Not a lot of traffic down that way either. It can get brutally hot down there though.

Beartooth Pass near Yellowstone. Goes from WY into MT. I've been across three times. I'd ride it again tomorrow. Pretty country.

A bucket list ride for me would be Deals Gap/Tail of the dragon, but I am not sure I want to deal with the crazies that frequent that road. Mulholland is another one, seems a bit safer at least from what I have seen/read on the internet.

To me, the best part about deals gap is not the dragon itself, but the hundreds of miles of amazing roads all through that area, without the traffic of the dragon.

I'm glad I did the dragon once, but I've been through there 4 times now and I don't have much desire to do that section again, it's all the other roads you come across from just exploring around that make that are awesome.

Can't beat blue Ridge parkway and all the feeder roads in my opinion.

Riding my GSX-R750 to work, wearing a backpack, was not very comfortable. I had installed Helibars which made it a little better, but the extra weight on my back took its toll on my shoulders and wrists, as our roads aren't the greatest. So, I did this yesterday:

I took it for a 20 mile or so shakedown ride (it handled great), came home and made a couple more adjustments to tighten up the passenger seat frame. I think it is going to work great.

2013 Yamaha Super Tenere. I love this bike, super comfy, good power and can hit a trail or two when needed.

I liked the "virgin river canyon" area in AZ between Vegas & Utah both directions, but it takes some riding to get to it and does not last long enough... I did it in 2000 when I went to Sturgis from So Cal...

Moss, I would suggest the Devil's Backbone, Highway 12 in Utah. Next time you are in the area.
Anyone wanting to do the Bear Tooth pass, make sure you have some warm gear just in case.
