I bought my VL1500 LC (Suzuki Intruder) last fall, and rode as much as I could, but always feeling a bit stretched out, and made my shoulder cramp (in part due to injuries from years ago, no doubt) and have wanted to alter my position when riding. My wife bought me a drivers back rest for Christmas, and that helped, but still had me wanting the hand grips a little closer. I looked at risers, but most gave more rise, and not much pull back. A buddy from work gave me a few old sets of bars, but they didn't quite provide what I was wanting. But... combined together they did!
Out came the grinder and welder, and the bottom of one got welded to the other, and about an hour and a half to install and move the cables behind the tripletree... perfect! Looks a little goofy at the moment, but a scrap piece of stainless steel will make a nice cover once bent to fit correctly and polished to shine... Suzuki emblem etched/sandblasted in... or a handlebar bag...
Photos: Stock bars on bottom, ones put together on top; as fitted on the bike; and the Suzuki emblem I plan to copy and etch into the cover I'll make.
