Still driving my 2000 F350 with a stick. Ironically my motorcycle(2019 Goldwing) is automatic.

Manual transmission in my (1999) F450 dump. It's a pleasure to use when I need it. Now with the 6-8-10 speed automatics and engine braking in today's light duty trucks, what's not to like? My only reservations with the "juice" trannys are the long term reliability and the insane costs of a problem. And weather or not its true, my perception that once the "factory" transmission is F'd, rebuilds are always questionable and leave me little faith and questioning when it's going to explode.

I drive my stick shift samurai at least weekly if not more.

I was at the hardware store and a young guy asked me if it’s hard to drive?

I said no… I learned to drive with a stick.

Another skill set fading with time.

How many TBN members own/drive manual transmission vehicle(s) in 2025?
I have Dodge 1996 3/4 T short 4whl drive pick-up with 5 speed manuel transmission drove yesterday.

I prefer a manual but my MG is the only one I have. Neither my current "new" car or truck was offered with a manual transmission.

Our last two cars (the Leaf and Model Y) have manual transmissions but because they're single speeds and with no reverse gear there is no mechanical shifting. I first experienced this with our 2007 E-Z-GO and just love the concept of a single speed transmission with no mechanical reversing gears.

Learned to drive with "three on the tree" everything "automatic now"even my tractor.
Looked for a manual truck in 1991 or 92 and it was difficult to find.
Don't miss having to shift.

My 1990 ZR-1 Corvette is a 6 speed. Daily driver Colorado is an automatic. I'd drive a stick if I could find one.

I have in the past but none here now. I miss it sometimes but prefer an automatic now.

No more manuals left in my fleet. In fact, for the last 5+ years, I have sought out either automatics in trucks, or CVT’s in tractors.
Todays automatics (Allison/Aisin) and CVT’s (Fendt) pull great, are safer when you “work” a vehicle, and have those extra features, like exhaust brakes.

All that said, I would love to have a Dodge 2500/3500 5.9L Cummins reg cab with an NV5400 as a spare truck when I feel like rowing gears, or escaping a EMP attack
