I am currently using .105 and like it in a echo trimmer, not unhappy with it, just have a lot of cleaning up to do on my fence lines and looking for every advantage I can get.

I gave up on string completely a few years ago.

I don’t think your handheld trimmer is going to spin that line unless it’s too short to do anything.

We use .155 very successfully in our Echo (it may be an SRM210, we've had it forever it seems) using a "rapid loader head" something like this. It takes out oak shoots & suckers pretty quickly and is summer-safe around here (ie, no sparks) and probably won't go through your boots unless you're serious about it.

Check this other current thread in TBN, @ArlyA has been talking about trimmers a lot recently.

Sorry I missed this thread and your question!!!

We started using 155 string like 15 years ago. We have rocks here so we eventually gave up on steel cutting blades all together.. We like large string so much, we are trying to up the game to .170 and Stihl claims to be coming out with a head to hold them.

Do note, these heads do not like you to switch string sizes.

.130 has been working pretty good for me on my KB131 powerhead.
