Who uses .155 line successfully in a string trimmer

Sorry I missed this thread and your question!!!

We started using 155 string like 15 years ago. We have rocks here so we eventually gave up on steel cutting blades all together.. We like large string so much, we are trying to up the game to .170 and Stihl claims to be coming out with a head to hold them.

Do note, these heads do not like you to switch string sizes.
lets revive a dead thread here, ArlyA do you know if stihl ever did? their website is so good even the dealers dont like it . .155 is ok but i would like more.

I have asked my dealer and they said no larger capacity heads have been made.. :(

that's very unfortunate as heavy string is phenomenal when you need to cut around obstacles, currently im jamming .155 line into a head echo rates up to .130 and i love it, .170 i could probably cut forever without changing lines. if I'm mowing an area where there's no obstacle i love a shredder blade it chops it more so the long grass doesn't wrap.

Echo does have one rated for 155.

I have a Stihl FS110 that I use .155 on. It is a Stihl brand head that uses two cut pieces about 10" long, it was designed for .105 line but the .155 fits and works just fine. The string lasts and only takes a moment to change. I do not like a head that feeds line on the gas trimmer, it always seems to bind up or break off flush requiring the head to be disassembled which ticks me off to no end.

I would almost bet the .170 would also fit, I might have to find some to try.

All the ones we have have steel collars the string feeds through and the cam locks are steel as well. What the make you have?
