Who's else got a Genuine Japanese Keychain?

I would love to have a Japanese key chain like in the top photo for my Yanmar, and a proper Yanmar labled key as well. My 135 had a JD key. Wonder if those come up on Ebay from time to time? Cheers Mike

The 1401D that I sold recently had a Japanese keychain with it. A couple of years ago a friend had a Japanese exchange student staying with her, so I asked her to look at my tractor and translate all the stickers and labels. It was a challenge for her English skills, and interesting for me as well. I gave her the keychain as a gift. She seemed thrilled with it, but probably threw it away when she got home. :)

Heck, I would have given it to you until I found out about these "good luck" bells. :D Sorry man, can't part with it now.

As aggrevating as this little keychain is, it just feels like part of the karma of the tractor. :)

Man, guess you won't have good luck

Tahts alright, I'm thinking it would need a cow bell on it anyway for any good luck spirits to hear it over my 2cyl. Yammer Hammer.

Bruce, I sent you a key chain with all the good luck balls & whistles attached.

Please post a picture when you receive it

My wife's daughter started studying Japanese in high school. Now she has switched over to Korean but still is in contact with Japanese students. So I copied the picture and my wife sent it to her daughter, who in turn sent it to her Japanese friend. This is the reply she got back in reference to the keychain:

This kind of bell is made as a lucky charm or somthing that you can buy at the shrine.

In the center ,it says "Matsushima".Probably the name of the shrine or place.

On the right I can see "Koutsuu-Anzen".It is to wish you a safe drive for the road trip.

On the left I see "Kaiun-Yakuyoke".It will bring you a good luck and avoid all bad lucks.

Did it make a sense? I hope it did.

I remember reading somewhere that they used their tractors for transportation as well as farming.

Thanks tE, I'll be looking for it. Looks like I have a feud brewing with a neighbor over his spite fencing, so I can use the extra luck right now.

I dont own a Yanmar,(Mahindra 5525 and a Massey 165, so far) but have been thinking about a smaller Yanmar in 20-25 hp, one for the wife after she almost killed herself on my Massey and I wont let her use it. Hence I've been reading some of these posts. It seems with the myriad of problems with the gray imports, the good luck charms are needed to keep them running.

I think you are supposse to walk around your tractor three times while ringing the little bells and chant some ancient shinto prayer.

Those who have the power shift tranny, any problems with them? I was told they are virually trouble free and better than the manual shifts as far as reliability.

Mike, thanks so much. That is cool to know.

Mag, don't know how you came to the conclusion that its hard to keep these Yanmar's running? I thoroughly researched them on various forums and have come to exactly the opposite conclusion.

Yanmars are just very good tractors, like anything they will break, but the parts are available for them (that is more than you can say for some greys--or domestics for that matter) The Powershift is a bullet proof tranny. Everything that I have read says it is the best bar none!!!

Mike

I do not even have one of those little key fobs--I feel like I am missing out. :(
