As far as reliability goes, I guess it matters a lot where you get it from. I own both a YM2500 and a YM3110D. I purchased the 3110D after Katrina because the 2500 couldn't quite handle what I needed done. Our power was out for 12 days. I ran my PTO generator 24/7 the whole time. We were the only ones around that had full power and A/C. I had a house full of family and one neighbor who was on an oxygen machine. I watched that little tractor closely during those 100 degree days after Katrina, shutting down only to refuel and changed the oil and filter every 3rd day. Before that, I ran the 2500 hard, discing, mowing, using the box blade, and there have only been a few minor problems. It has mostly set up after I got the 3100D, and now when I get ready to sell it, the rear main seal has started leaking and I started having a hydraulic leakdown problem. I have it broken apart, and the main problem was a fine film of rust on the crank, obviously from setting up for a year. As far as the hydraulic leakdown, Thanks to MJ Peterson, he told me where to look, and the problem there is the hydraulic cylinder was rusted, also from setting up and moisture collecting. I have been taking pictures of that project as I go and will post all of that information with pictures as soon as I am finished. The point is, I think the biggest enemy of any machine is lack of use. They are made to be run. Since there are so many of the grey market Yanmars in the country now, parts support has improved significantly. I can have most parts at my doorstep the next day. Just remember to do your normal maintenance. Grease and oil are cheap compared to replacing parts. I have no regrets with my Yanmar's.
