I'll re-post this from LogDog's thread as my "entry":

"There are 28 - 6x6x8' Cedar logs in this bundle. They weigh between 85 and 105 lbs each. Since they were cut green and stored outside I would lean more towards 100lb ea. It didn't like it, but it lifted and curled it. I regularly lift around 2K with no problems and traded in a CK30 for the DK mostly for the extra loader capacity...it has not disappointed me in over 600 hrs.."

Logwork009.jpg

That's the most it's ever lifted, but not the most I ever attempted....dang relief valve stops me from being too schtoopid:laughing:

For size of the machine, I think you are the winner! Are you sure you did not cheat a bit on the relief valve. I did, just only 5%.

I have a L39 Kubota, and I suspect we are about tied in lift ability, maybe the L39 has the edge in lift, but you may have me on curl, as curl is not the L39 strong point. Hard to tell as The L39 is rated center 500 MM from pins including HD bucket weight and Koiti's are rated at pins.

What do you have for a counterweight? Besides the 1,800 lb. BH I added another 850 Lbs of steel to wheels and frame to reduce pucker factor.

I believe the Kioti 4XX loaders are the stongest for their size of any Ag type tractor. The LA-85X series on the biggest grand L Kubota's may come close, but I think you would need the Kubota M seires loader to be stronger.

Actually, I think Island Tractor is trying to show off his grapple. Is a grapple of much use use at all? :)

The truss was one of five I put in to a main room that opened up my house to a major extension I started 4 years ago. Incidentally, I'm on schedule of the 6 year project.

Grapple? Yes it is real handy. I use it less now having the excavator with hydraulic thumb.

This is New England. Rocks are our main cash crop.

No kiddin'

Hey IT, Nice group of rock and trees!:D
Tell me about the rocks!! The excavator just broke out about a foot of his bucket on stumps/rocks on my place yesterday on a Cat 320CL. The bucket is the size of a small car, and it was already cracked, but still, nothing like New England ground to wreck equipment.:D Took them most of the day to cut it out and re-weld it, thankfully not at my expense.

IT, what's you long term game plan to do with the areas you've ridden of rocks/trees/vegetation?

Grapple? What's a grapple?

Now here is the bulkiest item lifted by my tree boom. A waterlogged community swim float being positioned for winter storage. Not sure how heavy is was (4 big guys couldn't lift it) but I can tell you it was even worse than piles of brush at obstructing forward vision!

Mike those are some really big rocks. I have found when playing in the rocks they are hard to balance and they shift a lot making the game interesting. I agree, the Kioti has a beefy curl, I used a 55 horse Mahindra when my Kioti was in for a head gasket and it could not curl near as much as my 40 horse. Counterweight is a 6' HD International rotary cutter and no it was not near enough which is why I put that stack back down as soon as I snapped the pic. The front tires were at proper inflation, but I heard them screaming over the engine noise:laughing:

IT nice "plan"

This is my long term plan.

That's a nice plan, but it's not nearly finished, right?:confused2: I mean, look at all the vegetation waiting to be pulled, cut, removed in the foreground- there is still a bunch a trees blocking full ocean view access!?:D:thumbsup:

Does your property extend down to the waterline in front? When's uninvited guest season start?

Note the HST version of the L39 (the L45) has two major improvements.

1. Front Axle syle from the Kubota M Series.

2. About 15% increase in curl strength.

The L45 Wheelbase has be streched a bit to fit the 4 cyl Engine also.

I wish the tires wer larger. 43" in rear vs. 40" dia and 29" dia in front vs. 27' dia.

Kubota quality is good, but you pay big bucks to get their HD stuff.

A lot of Kubota's line is too light for serious ground engagement.

What I don't get in Kioti's loader line-up is the jump from the KL130 to the KL351 and KL401, considering that the tractors they fit are only marginally larger.

The jump from KL130 (1100lbs roughly) to the KL351 (1500lbs roughly) makes sense to me. The KL351 only fits on the DK35 which is certainly a bigger tractor than the CK27/30/35. The DK35 is 38hp and substantially larger "frame" than the CK lineup and weighs a lot more too.

The jump from KL351 to KL401 is huge (1500 to 2700lbs). As far as I can tell, the issue is not engine size (38hp vs 41hp on the DK40se) but rather the front axle size. The front axle on the DK40/45/50 is substantially bigger than on the DK35. In fact, I think the only real physical differences between the DK35 and it's larger siblings are the axles, tires and one extra cylinder in the engine. I suppose the transmission and hydraulic pump might be a bit different but output of the pump is only one gpm shy of the DK40/45/50 so I doubt that is the reason for the smaller loader. Total tractor weight is within 200lbs of the bigger DKs and that must just be the weight of the axles and bigger tires.
