Why are TYM and Branson so much less??

I haven't read the whole thread but check the warranty. I was going to buy a tractor once and was about to hand over the checque when I asked about the warranty. "Oh," he said, "there is no warranty on these tractors"
Needless to say that is as far as the transaction went.

Later on I found out that they were breaking in half at the bell housing.

Sounds like it was not built for the USA market. Maybe clone/copy of a major brand???

I can't say anything for sure, but it appears the Moline factory hasn't made a regular tractor since 1946 (it currently makes harvesters). Maybe assembled there? Not really finding anything about the X744 model.

Either way, all the JD compact tractors have Japanese Yanmar engines in them, so JD is an “assembler” of compact tractors. They’re not building the tractor from the ground up including the engine here in the USA. There’s nothing wrong with that, lots of other makes do that, just be forthright about it. And Yanmar builds one heck of a good Diesel engine.

You usually get what you pay for... There is always a reason for cheaper cost, it has to factor in...
And yet I bought a Korean made tractor because it cost less with more standard features 17 years ago.
Felt the fit/finish/quality looked very good.
After owning it 17 years and 2140 hours when should I see at least some sign I bought an inferior tractor.
No sign of it yet, Its been great to me and still working like new.

there's nothing wrong with Japanese products, they are very high quality, this also goes for Western Europe... notice I won't make a comment on the other Countries..

Interesting thread. I am planning on buying a tractor in the 40-45 HP range with FEL and backhoe before January. Was not even aware of a Branson. After reading this thread found out there is a dealer within 20 miles of me. A trip to their shop will soon be in order to see if they can save me a few thousand dollars over my first choice, which is a Kioti.

Yeah, 'made in usa' means what, exactly, these days?

I have a subaru..made in indiana.
A chevy truck, made in mexico.

I had a late 80s Jeep, made in toledo..but many parts had 'made in mexico' or other countries stamped on them.

I've heard that to be 'made in america' a certain percentage of the item has to be made here..based on value or weight or what I don't know.

And with subaru..workers here got paid, factory likely paid taxes - but profits go to japan. The mexican chevy profits came back to the US, but the jobs to build it are not here, taxes not here.

And does the work ethic, union mentalilty, etc affect the ***'y quality here or there?

deere is loose with the truth when it comes with the difference between "built" in the USA and assembled" in the USA...

No idea on them, but often WAY too often, warranty is "5 years"...small print, 'commercial use 30 days'.
So yeah, 30 days isn't much, if any, warranty really.

What is considered commercial use? Can be cloudy for some...farming...hobby? not commercial. Oh, you got the sales tax exemption because you have a horse farm (you board some horses say)..well, that would be commercial use, legally speaking.

Plow snow for money, cut grass for money, log, market farming, selling hay, tilling gardens or brushogging...all commercial use.

Both TYM and Branson have warranties.

To me, Kioti has proven themselves. No personal exp. but imho they've put their time in and are still here, that's telling.

By being cheaper than the others, doesn't actually mean that the tractor is built cheap. For instance, with Branson (the brand I have experience with), the tractor has a lot of quality. It's built heavier and stronger than probably any other brand. The castings are huge, the tractor is welt built and you actually get a real hood and fenders made of metal instead of cheap flimsy plastic. You can see quality that you can't see in some other brands.

People are a bit skeptical about this brand, probably due to misinformation and mostly by the under-advertising it gets by the brand. But if you can actually sit in a Branson tractor, you will see what I mean, specially if you have any other brand on the side to compare. And I'm sure the Branson users can relate to this.

The John Deere power reverser series, I believe the 6M and 6R series, are built by Branson. Same for the McCormick X1 series, which are actually a clone from the Branson 20/25 series.

Kukje makes the Branson tractor. Pull up the Kukje www and brouse through it. Looks like a rainbow.....and green is in there listed by model number along with other colors. Go to the Branson site and they have a side by side comparison between competing models. See for yourself.
