You usually get what you pay for... There is always a reason for cheaper cost, it has to factor in...

Yepper, I'm as biased as you are....looking at your lineup. My 6530 was $37K and that was with a $1k discount for the month of Sept. 2007. I got what I paid for......so much that I bought a 2400 in 2016.

"Built" means "assembled" in most cases.

It does appear that your 1026R was either manufactured or assembled in Georgia. 2012 was the last year this was so. The current factory location for that model is listed as "unknown." The factory location for the 3046R is also listed as "unknown."

Unclear whether JD actually manufactures some 5000 series tractors in GA, or just assembles them there; hard to tell. Most of that series is currently made in India.

I was told by a dealer that currently there are no tractors less than around 100HP that are *manufactured* in the U.S.

Don't mean to burst anyone's bubble, but I did my research because "made in USA" is important to me personally. I've run a successful business for over a decade and we source all of our materials from the U.S. whenever possible, no matter what it costs. We can do that because we sell super-premium products at a premium price, and our customers expect to pay more for this. We do source one material from Australia and one from Denmark because they are the only sources available for those items, and we are upfront about it to our customers. In addition, we re-sell ONE product made in China because that country is literally the only source worldwide for that product. We are upfront about that too. We have made efforts to interest U.S. companies in making those products with no success so far.

Deere seems to be perpetuating a myth that they are manufactured in the U.S. when in fact they have been making their tractors in other countries for many decades. (The exception is their large farming equipment, like harvesters.) I like facts and don't like companies that deceive people. Just admit that you're a global company that sources your tractors globally and concentrate on your great quality for pete's sake!

Do a google map on Rome, Ga, south of town, forget the highway. You can see for yourself what's there. My 6530 came from there with Titan tires and wheels made in the USA....you can (could) see them stacked out on in the parking lot. Place isn't big enough to do any manufacturing and be the US business hub too. If you do any real looking at farming practices in Korea you'll see why ads come with high lug F1s.....made for rice fields. I think they come in in crates and have the tires and a few variances assembled here. No way do my Titan tires have the rice lugs shown in the brochures.

Other thing is if you see one of the pictures of a Branson actually working a rice field, up to it's undercarriage in mud with mud all over it, you'll see why some of the lube recommendations appear in the service manual as they do.

Either way, all the JD compact tractors have Japanese Yanmar engines in them, so JD is an 殿ssembler of compact tractors. Theyæ±*e not building the tractor from the ground up including the engine here in the USA. Thereç—´ nothing wrong with that, lots of other makes do that, just be forthright about it. And Yanmar builds one heck of a good Diesel engine.

Way back there, guessing late '60's early '70's I passed a Yanmar dealer on the way to work in Dallas. "Quality survives the test of time." and since they are still here going strong, must make the grade. And for JD to select them as their engine supplier (at least of some of their engines) it speaks well of them......but in all honesty, I like my Cummins in my Bransons. Wink!

And yet I bought a Korean made tractor because it cost less with more standard features 17 years ago.
Felt the fit/finish/quality looked very good.
After owning it 17 years and 2140 hours when should I see at least some sign I bought an inferior tractor.
No sign of it yet, Its been great to me and still working like new.

I think I am on the right track here; when Bobcat wanted to add a compact tractor line to their regular like of earth moving equipment they selected Kioti. Speaks for itself. I recall seeing them at the Bobcat dealership North of McKinney before they moved the dealership.

Kubota was once an up and comer. Now it is an established brand. Montana Tractor was once an up and comer. Now it is an orphan tractor (out of business). The question is what will TYM and/or Branson be in the future?

The Montana tractor is made by LS, so its really not a total orphan.

I purchased a Branson 4720CH for 28.5K and the equivalent Kubota with NO extras was priced to me for 41K. There is no justification for a 12.5k offset in price, you will never convince me the Kubota is 12.5k better.

Montana Tractor is no longer in business, so it is an orphan tractor. Ironically, Branson had a hand in their demise. Branson also abandoned Century Tractor. Let's hope TYM doesn't do the same to Branson.

Branson Tractor Says Joint Venture Talks with Montana Discontinued
By John Dobberstein posted on January 29, 2010 | Posted in Manufacturer News

Just months after a supplier agreement had been reached, it appears joint-venture talks between Branson Tractor and Montana Tractors are over.

Kukje Machinery, parent company of Branson Tractor, said Friday in a statement to Farm Equipment that the joint-venture discussions with Montana Tractors have been terminated and Branson is appointing a new team of management

Young Nam, president of Branson Machinery in Rome, Ga., said in a statement that the talks ended “because of lack of economic support under the current business environment in the U.S.”

Kukje confirmed it will keep Branson Tractor as a main sales force in North American market and strengthen its customer services by appointing new managers.

Nam, the newly appointed president of Branson, named Glen Ezell as a vice president of sales and marketing. He stated that Mr. Ezell will lead “Team Branson” as Branson starts its “new beginning.”

Just a few months ago, Branson and Montana appeared headed toward a joint venture. Farm Equipment reported in December that Montana Tractors signed a supplier agreement with Kukje Machinery Co. of South Korea. Both companies market compact tractors largely for the rural lifestyle and hobby farm markets.

The deal was to give Montana “immediate access” to the Kukje brand of equipment, according to a news release posted on Montana’s web site. The line will be labeled as the Montana “Special Edition” and the tractors were slated to reach dealers this year.

At the time, Montana said plans for the joint venture in the U.S. are still moving forward, “with specifications of additional models in the early stages of development.” Ted Wade, Montana’s vice chairman and co-owner, was recently in South Korea for talks with Kukje.

But the company did not respond to several follow-up questions posted by Farm Equipment.

Kukje has been making and distributing 21-65 horsepower tractors in the U.S. since 2003 through Branson, a wholly owned Kukje subsidiary, “and until completion of the joint venture, Kukje will also supply Montana Tractors with the same product selection,” Montana says in a news release.

Montana, and Kukje Machinery — an affiliate of Dongkuk Steel Mill Co., which makes tractors, combines, rice transplanters and diesel engines — officially began talks last June. Montana’s supplier, LS Cable, announced earlier this year that it would stop supplying tractors to Montana and enter the U.S. market on its own. Branson has struggled to establish a marketing presence and provide parts and service support for dealerships in the U.S., some industry observers say.

At last count, Montana and Branson would have had a combined 460 dealerships, and it stood to question whether the networks will be streamlined. There are also questions about Montana’s scheduled consolidation of operations to Taraboro, N.C., where Montana has purchased the former Farmtrac assembly plant. Branson has its own headquarters in Rome, Ga., and assembly plants in California and Georgia, while Montana lists locations in Springdale, Ark., and Tarboro, N.C.

Since then, TYM has purchased Kukje (the maker of Branson) and all of its assets. Kukje (and the Branson name) are now a wholly owned subsidiary of TYM.

The OP hasn't been back since making the original post but given their location was Lempster, NH, there are two Mahindra dealers nearby so they could go look at them since several Mahindra models are made by TYM. There's one in Warner, NH and one in Winchester, NH.
