Why buying your first tractor is a horrible idea.

That is the American dream and way. There is a song about younger women, older whiskey, faster horses and more money. Should of put a line in their about bigger tractors. Everybody always want more-bigger-better. You are only acting normal.

NO, no - Phillip w. The saying is - "Old bikes, young women and good whiskey". My T-shirt with that on the front, rotates up and is worn about every other month.

JOHNTHOMAS has some interesting thoughts on buying tractors; can't find it right now.

It's not just about MORE. But if you really start doing things, several tractors are almost a must. It's like only owning one set or wrenches or only having one arm!

Heard that song many times. Never realized it spoke of "Bikes".

You are selling your sub compact?
You will be sorry!

A BIG mistake!
Tractors are like guns!
More tractors are BETTER!
ONLY BUY....NEVER sell!

Besides: You can leave implements hooked up.
No need to change, if you have a dedicated tractor.

I was thinking the same exact thing! C'mon Rock Crawler.... let us spend your money for you! :D:laughing:

I know that feeling very well..... I bought over $100,000 worth of equipment last year, including a new Kubota L6060. But I did sell $40,000 of equipment.

And it has started already this year. I'm at about $30,000 already this year.

So, I will start with saying that before last year, I had no desire to own a "real" tractor. I had always been fine with my large retail store garden tractor, like my Craftsman (Husqvarna) 26HP GT. But something happened last summer and I started to fixate on buying a tractor and the things I could do with it.

So that was the start. I fixated, I studied, I visited dealers and sat on and test drove products, I came here and asked questions, then I asked again, then I fought against and for responses that I liked or didn't like. But then... I bought a tractor. A little sub compact unit. I loved it! It was great! For a few weeks I was amazed at what I was getting done. But soon I wanted more. More attachments and more ability.

So here is the horrible part. 4 months later I am selling the sub compact and getting a compact with more weight, more lifting power and more digging power. I went from $13,000 invested in the tractor to now going in at a tune of $30,000. I have purchased a back blade, tooth bar and box blade. But now... now I want a 3-point chipper, a grapple from EA and I am starting to look at building a large unattached garage. I want a newer chain saw. I want a dump trailer. I want... I want... I want!

So what started out as an itch has snowballed into what will likely be close to a $100,000 investment.

This is a dangerous game to play. So you got your warning here... Take it for what you paid for this. But trust me when I tell you that the more you do and the more you accomplish.... the more you will look at yourself and your machine and think "But, what I just had......" and then there goes the money!

Is there a meeting I can go to? Maybe I can get some help in dealing with this sickness?

I see nothing wrong here... You're as right as rain.
