What did that tractor set you back?

$29,050 selling price + $3,113 KTAC = $32,163 + 6% PA sales tax = $34,092
$21,000-(ish) cash down with the rest using the 0% @ 84 months for a $140 payment.
The cash down is (ish) because we are going to adjust that to hit the wife's required maximum of a $140 payment. It will be a little more than $21,000.

This past summer we were doing some minor landscaping in our back yard when the wife stopped what she was doing and stared at our little Kioti. She had been using it to move something around the yard and had been on it nearly as much as I had that morning. "You know," she said, "that thing has paid for itself two or three times over for all the landscaping we have done here and at our daughter's houses."

I mentioned that we could have done said work much faster with a slightly larger tractor but got no reply.

Like I had read on this forum in the past, you eat an entire elephant one bite at a time. Same thing with getting your wife to agree that you need that new tractor.

I was smart about it, when I started the sickness I explained to her that I didn't think a SCUT was going to satisfy my needs, but that I'm getting into this so good that I can get back out later with minimal or no loss as I move larger. So she agreed, it sounded like a good plan.

She never could have guessed how quickly I would step up! 3 months later and I'm selling the SCUT with no loss, and I'm moving up.

What she doesn't know... It's that I'm already planning the next move to a Cab version as soon as I decide to pay off the loan on this one. I really need that AC! Who wants to mow grass and have sweat running down their face?

2018... Buy the B2650.

2020... Trade it in on a B2650 cab version and have them move the loader and backhoe over to it.

So what started out as an itch has snowballed into what will likely be close to a $100,000 investment.

I did exactly that.... Sold all my old tractors and anything else that was worth a penny paid off my house. In that same week, I bought a new truck, dump trailer and tractor.... (and remodeled the kitchen for my wife :) ). I think I was debt free for maybe an hour?

I figure it was all "free" though because had I gone full term with the house, it would have been more than $100k additional interest. I think I did the exact opposite of what that Ramsey guy teaches, paid off the big thing first!

So here is the horrible part. 4 months later I am selling the sub compact and getting a compact with more weight, more lifting power and more digging power. I went from $13,000 invested in the tractor to now going in at a tune of $30,000. I have purchased a back blade, tooth bar and box blade. But now... now I want a 3-point chipper, a grapple from EA and I am starting to look at building a large unattached garage. I want a newer chain saw. I want a dump trailer. I want... I want... I want!

So what started out as an itch has snowballed into what will likely be close to a $100,000 investment.

The stampede to buy brand new equipment has also been doing great things for us guys who prefer buying used. Tractors are designed to last 50 years/10,000 hours.....but right now there's a ton of 15 year old/1500 hour tractors on the market for less than half price with no sign of a let up.
And the used implement market is just as good.
