Re: Why do Diesels last longer than IC\'s?
The road construction company i work for runs mainly diesels in the heavy equipment, and also our on road vehicles.
It is pretty hit and miss.. but I've seen some big money go into a few rebuilds in the last few years for the heavy equipment... on the flip side... in 89 we bought a mack semi tractor ( truck ) with 800K on it and no rebuilds... got it from a milk plant. They said we would need to rebuild it soon... we sold it last year, with no re build, and had about 1.2 mil miles on it... ( we did dut an injector pump on it once though...
Then again.. the guy down the road still mows with his 50's era ford 8n...gas job... go figure...
