DEF/DPF isn't a problem if you have a full time diesel mechanic on site and you have 2 or 3 identical spare machines ready to use at any time.

You need to embrace technology and think like the new generation cell phone users. You need to stop worrying about overpriced tech and buy new every 1-2 years and throw away the old one when a software update bricks your device. No problem.

I wonder where the drummer came up with that. Not true. DEF is nothing more than urea and di-ionized water. Nothing there to spoil. DEF jugs do have an expiration date on them but it's a 'best if used by' date, not a no good after date.

Not true, spoil may be to wrong term but it will start to crystallize. That's why dpf systems have a way of sensing quality.

Our m6-131 has been in the shop 3 times for issues, it has 2200 hours on it. All three times it go an updated replacement def pump, sensor, injector and all 3 times a recall came after the repair so we got our money back.

Yes, DEF quality degrades over time. Some trucks will actually derate and give a code for poor DEF quality. Then it is a trip to dealer to get tank drained and system flushed.

I've dealt with emission motors enough in my pickups, class 5 and 8 trucks and heavy equipment to know I don't want to deal with it in my personal life at home with my machines that aren't out making revenue.
Luckily for my needs at home I can get by with my sub 26 h.p. Kubota's and my antique tractors that run every time I turn the key.
