I was sitting here relaxing watching the dog run over by the pond and garden.
Then all of the sudden he began to sniff and run around in circles....I though he was going to crap, but he began to roll onto his back and wiggle around. I called him to me and of course I could smell you know what before he got to me. His own piles are like pancakes.

Why whould a dog do this??

Of course, his swimming abilities were immediately tested in the pond!

Dogs do it to mask themselves in the scent.

Dog peeves about humans

1. Passing gas and blaming it on me... not funny... not funny at all !!!

2. Yelling at me for barking... I'M A DOG, YOU NUMBSKULL!

3. Taking me for a walk, then not letting me check stuff out. Exactly whose walk is this anyway?

4. Any trick that involves balancing food on my nose... stop it!

5. Any haircut that involves bows or ribbons. Now you know why we chew your stuff up when you're not home.

6. The sleight of hand, fake fetch throw. You fooled a dog!
Woooo-Hooooooo! Oh, what a proud moment for the top of the food chain.

7. Taking me to the vet for "the big snip", then acting surprised when I freak out every time we go back!

8. Getting upset when I sniff the crotches of your guests. Sorry, but I haven't quite mastered that handshake thing yet.

9. Dog sweaters. Hello??? Haven't you noticed the fur?

10. How you act disgusted when I lick myself. Look, we both know the truth, you're just jealous.

Now lay off me on some of these things, We both know who's boss here (you don't see me picking up your poop, do you?).

Because with the heat we've had this summer, urine drys up too fast. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Seriously though, I'm with the other poster....I've always heard it was to cover their scent.

What is disgusting to us, is not so to dogs. However, there are a variety of reasons dogs do this. Could be boredom, anxiety, a vitamin deficiency, hunger, etc.

My dogs do this too. One more than the other. My wife puts a positive spin on this - we don't have to worry about stepping in their poop when out in the yard. It doesn't do much for their breath, however.

how come when the puke something up they eat it as if it might stay down better the second time?
