Why does BX2660 have 2.5hp more than BX25?

Hi All,
Have been a Kubota fan for many years and owned a B1500E, G1800, BX2200 and loved them all. Now, will be in the market for a BX25 early next year. Even have my wife's OK!!! (Glory!)

Got to looking on the Kubota Corp website and noticed in the specs that the BX2660 has 2.5 more HP than the BX25? (25 hp vs. 22.5 hp)

Sent Kubota Corp the question last week and even asked if the BX2660 could be ordered with a backhoe. Received an email acknowledging the question, but still no answer from the correct department, whichever that is.

It puzzles me why the BX25 model doesn't have the highest HP for that line, being that it has a BH as standard equipment. It is kind of the flagship for the BX line, right?
2.5 HP out of 25 is 10%! Wow, that is a substantial amount of HP, to me anyway.

Any ideas or comments out there?

There would be very, very, very, very, very, very little functional difference between the two machines with 2.5 HP less or more. This isn't a dragster...there are only one or two things that could even come close to 'bogging' either engine. A PTO generator, for example. Or a large PTO chipper. In normal useage (FEL, BH, Mower, bagging, grading, etc.) 22.5 HP is amply sufficient for this size tractor.

I guess the answer is obvious. The BX2660 has a bigger engine in it.

Isn't the pump capacity the same? Would one be correct to assume no difference in hydraulic capacity?

We sold our BX2200 (long story) then bought a BX2660. We can tell a significant difference in the additional horse power pushing brush and digging with the FEL.

The BX2200/2230 etc. are excellent tractors though and the HP difference, though noticeable is not significant enough to justify a different tractor for most people.

You can't order a BX2660 with the Kubota BH. The BX25 is the only BX that comes with the BH standard; no option for one on the other models. BUT, you can get a Woods BH for any of the BX models. I believe the Woods model number is BH6000, from memory.

Interesting this question came up today. I was telling Steve at Barlows this morning about how I preferred the BX25 moter over the BX2660 I traded in. The BX25 motor revs faster, smoother and quieter than my BX2660 motor. I have no answers nor did Steve, I'm just telling my impression from ownership of one to the other.

Who says it has 25 HP? My BX25 has 23 HP. Did they increase the HP since I got mine in 2008?

The BX25 I just got is a 23 hp.
