Why doesn't my MX6 suck?

Does Deere still offer the '09' (ie 709) series cutters new? They are very heavy duty cutter and I'd put them up against anything for strength and durability. They are pretty much a " if you can drive over it, it will cut it machine'. I saw a guy with a 4020 using one where he was pushing over trees bigger than 4" with the loader and then shredding them with the mower.

I'd hate to abuse them that much, but it was doing it.

No, they do not offer them new anymore.

I've whacked a couple of trees bigger than 4" with my MX6 before, and it chewed them up. My tractor didn't like it all that much, ha. Bogged down the engine quite a bit. I wouldn't make a habit of it, that's for sure.

They replaced them with the HX series. HX6 and HX7.

Hey guys, I am fairly new to tractors and looked at the MX6 when I got my 5065e-MFWD. The blogs about gearbox failures scared me although I am not knocking the MX6 as my dealer told me they had addressed the gearbox issue. I ended up buying the Bush Hog 296 for $2795 including chains front and rear. It is rated for 3 inch material, weighs 1155 # and I have been very pleased. For the money, I thought it was a good value and no gearbox concerns. My cousin does have a Deere Model that is rated for 4 inch material and I believe it is a 705 or something like that? But it is awesome. I have seen him drive a 5425 with a loader low through pine trees that were 4 -5 inch diameter. The loader pushed them over and the Commercial grade Deere cutter shredded them up. He quickly cut a 200 yard shooting lane through these planted pines for deer hunting from a tower stand. I would not have believed it if I had not seen it myself

The commercial John Deere mowers are very good. They are pricey and must dealers don't stock them. When I bought my last mx6 I would have bought a hx6 if they had one in stock.
